Okay, so, I’ve been digging into this 76th U.S. Junior Amateur Championship thing, and let me tell you, it’s been a ride. I wanted to see what all the fuss was about, you know? So I started by just browsing around, trying to get a feel for the event.

First, I checked out some general info about it being held at this place called Oakland Hills Country Club. Apparently, this club is a big deal, having hosted tons of these USGA championships before. Six U.S. Opens, a couple of U.S. Senior Opens, and some others. They are really something.
Then, I started looking into the players. I mean, 264 players? That’s a lot of people to keep track of! I saw that two guys, Tyler Watts and Mason Howell, were leading the pack after shooting a 65. And get this, Watts is part of some new USGA National Junior Team. They looked so professional.
Diving deeper, I found out that they were still doing qualifiers for this thing. I even found out where one of the qualifiers was going to be held – Stonebridge GC on June 24th, for the girls. Imagine the pressure those kids must be under! I feel nervous just thinking about it!
- Read up on the history of Oakland Hills Country Club.
- Checked out the initial scores and noted the leaders.
- Looked into the qualifying process and locations.
I also stumbled upon some random stuff, like this old L-2B flight jacket that used to belong to some Major with a really intense name. It seemed completely unrelated, but you know how these rabbit holes go, also I read something about tax forms, like, what’s that got to do with golf?
The Wrap-Up
Anyway, I spent a good chunk of time on this, and while I didn’t become an expert, I definitely got a better sense of what this U.S. Junior Amateur Championship is all about. It’s a pretty big deal in the golf world, with a lot of history and some seriously talented young players. And who knows, maybe I’ll keep following along to see how it all turns out. It did took me a lot of time.
