Okay, so I had this crazy idea the other day to marathon “60 Minutes” episodes for a whole hour. Not sure why, just felt like it. I’ve always been kind of a news junkie, and “60 Minutes” is like the granddaddy of news shows, right?
First things first, I made sure it was a day when there was a new episode. Checked the CBS schedule – nope, not this Sunday, they’re airing some music awards thing. Apparently, it was going to be on Monday instead. This is good enough for me.
Then I grabbed my laptop, opened up Paramount Plus where they stream the show, and there it was, a whole archive of “60 Minutes” episodes. I scrolled through, trying to decide which ones to watch. It is a great news tv series.
I started with a recent one about Jackson, Mississippi. Man, that was heavy. This city was once a great place, but then people started leaving, taking their money with them. It’s like the whole city just got abandoned. The city council even made a resolution against CBS for showing the city in a bad way. It really got me thinking about how cities change over time.
- Clicked on an episode about some political scandal.
- Watched another one about climate change.
- Skipped through a few segments that didn’t really grab me.
By the end of the hour, I was exhausted. It’s a lot to take in, all these serious stories back-to-back. But I actually felt pretty good. Like I’d learned something. Maybe I’ll do it again sometime, but I’ll definitely need a break first. It’s one thing to watch the news, but a whole hour of “60 Minutes” is a whole different level of intensity.
Anyway, that’s my story of my “60 Minutes” marathon. Not exactly a wild adventure, but it was definitely an experience.
