Okay, so, let me tell you about this thing I did recently. It was called the “Mike’s Seafood Autism Run” and it was a blast!
It all started when I saw some buzz online about this event. It’s a 5K run-walk, and all for a great cause – helping out families dealing with autism. I thought, “Why not?” So, I decided to sign up. I mean, who wouldn’t want to get some exercise and support a good cause at the same time?
Getting ready for it was pretty straightforward. They had this website where you could register, but I can’t share the link here. But it was easy peasy to find. I just filled out the form, paid the fee, and boom, I was in! They even mentioned something about a team discount if you signed up with your friends by February 14th. I rounded up a few buddies, and we got ourselves a sweet little discount. Teamwork makes the dream work, right?
The day of the run finally came – it was Saturday, February 17th, 2024. The atmosphere was electric! There were over 4,000 people there, all pumped up and ready to go. The run started at JFK and the Boardwalk. We all lined up, the signal went off, and we were off to the races… well, more like a brisk walk for some of us, but you get the idea.
Here’s the best part: After the race, Mike’s Seafood was giving away free pizza! They had 150 slices for the first 150 participants who stopped by their store. Free pizza after a run? Yes, please! I made sure to hustle over there and snag a slice. It was delicious, by the way.
- We started gathering at the starting point early in the morning.
- We ran along the planned route, enjoying the scenery and the company.
- We pushed ourselves to finish strong. It was a great feeling crossing the finish line!
- We celebrated our accomplishment with pizza and good company. The post-race party was just as fun as the run itself!
The Whole Experience
Overall, it was an amazing experience. I got to contribute to a cause I care about, had a fun workout with my friends, and even got some free pizza out of it. It was one of those feel-good days that just leaves you with a big smile on your face. And you know what? I’m already looking forward to next year’s run. Maybe I’ll even try to beat my time! Or at least make sure I’m one of the first 150 people to get to the pizza.
I heard someone saying, “WE ARE STILL ON FOR THE AUTISM EVENT..!! Come on down.” It made me feel so warm and fuzzy inside. It was nice to see so many people coming together to support this great cause. So many families need our help. I felt proud to be a part of it all.
So, that’s my story about the Mike’s Seafood Autism Run. It was a day filled with good vibes, good exercise, and good food, all for a great cause. If you ever get a chance to participate in something like this, I highly recommend it. You won’t regret it!
