Okay, so, I was browsing the internet the other day, just scrolling through stuff, you know, the usual. And I stumbled upon this question that really got me thinking: “Is Kyler Murray gay?” It popped up out of nowhere, and I was like, “Wait, what? Where did that come from?”
I started digging around a bit, just to see what all the fuss was about. Turns out, it all started because of some old tweets. Yeah, tweets from back in 2011 and 2012, when Kyler Murray was way younger. These tweets had some homophobic stuff in them, and people were making a big deal about it.
But here’s the thing, I noticed a lot of articles that popped up were from around December 2018. I figured something must have happened around that time to make those old tweets resurface. So I searched around the news, especially about the Heisman Trophy since it was mentioned a lot. I found out that Kyler Murray had just won it. Like, right around the time those articles were written.
So, here’s the timeline I put together:
- December 2018: Kyler Murray wins the Heisman Trophy. Big moment, right?
- Shortly after: These old, homophobic tweets of his resurface online. People start talking, and it gets a lot of attention.
- Then: He comes out and apologizes for those tweets. He says sorry for what he said back then. He even deleted the tweets.
It looks like he owned up to it and apologized, which is something, I guess. He was young when he wrote those tweets, but still, words hurt, you know? I also noticed a lot of news outlets were using the phrase “anti-gay tweets,” but not many directly said “gay” or “LGBTQ.” It felt a little like they were dancing around the issue.
Anyway, that’s the whole story as far as I can tell. I just wanted to share what I found because it’s interesting how things from the past can come back like that, especially when someone’s in the spotlight.
So to get back to the title question, I’m not even sure that has anything to do with the main issue here. I could not find any news on whether he is gay, and the controversy seemed to be more focused on the old tweets. So to me it’s pretty much clear that it was just an excuse to talk about him and maybe bring him down after he won the big trophy, which is really sad. This Kyler guy seemed to have just wanted to play football and live his life. But people will do anything to put others down when they are on top of the world, it seems.
