So, the other day I was trying to solve the New York Times crossword, and I came across this clue that just said “response to hilarious text.” I was like, “What the heck could that be?” I mean, there are so many ways you could respond to a hilarious text.
I started by trying to think of all the different acronyms or slang terms people use when texting. You know, like LOL, ROFL, LMAO, and all that jazz. I even tried some more obscure ones like CTFU (Cracking The Fudge Up) and PMP (Peeing My Pants). But nope, none of them seemed to fit the crossword grid. It was driving me nuts!
Then, I decided to take a different approach. I went online and started searching for crossword clue solvers. I figured, if anyone knew the answer, it would be some website dedicated to solving crosswords, right? I mean, there are entire communities online dedicated to this stuff.
- I stumbled upon this one site, “The Crossword Solver,” and it had a whole database of clues and answers. I typed in “response to hilarious text” and boom, it gave me a bunch of potential solutions. Most of them were the usual suspects like LOL and ROFL, but there were also a few I’d never heard of.
- Then I checked out another site, “Crossword Clue.” They had a similar setup, where you could enter a clue and it would spit out possible answers. This time, I got even more options, some of which were pretty out there.
- I started going down this rabbit hole, checking out a few more sites. I even found forums where people were discussing this exact clue and debating the answer. It was kind of funny to see how much thought people put into these puzzles.
After browsing through a bunch of these sites and forums, I started to notice a pattern. Most of them were pointing towards one answer in particular: HAHA. I was like, “Oh, duh! That makes so much sense!”
Finally got it
So, I went back to my crossword, plugged in HAHA, and it fit perfectly! I felt so dumb for not thinking of it earlier, but also kind of relieved that I finally solved it. It was a real “aha” moment, you know? It was pretty wild to see how many resources are out there just for solving crossword puzzles. I guess I’m not the only one who gets stumped by these things. Anyway, that’s my story of how I spent way too much time trying to solve a single crossword clue. Now that I think about it, the internet makes these things way too easy. It was more fun back in the day when you actually had to use your brain. Whatever, it’s done now.
