Alright, so I was messing around with my computer the other day, trying to figure out just how much “stone cold” stuff I had on there. You know, like, old files, programs I never use, maybe some embarrassing photos from way back when. Basically, digital junk that’s just taking up space.
First, I opened up the file explorer. Just clicked on that little folder icon on the taskbar. Nothing fancy. Then I started poking around in my downloads folder. Man, that place is a mess. Found a bunch of old zip files from like, three years ago. Don’t even remember what’s in them. I also deleted those files.
After that, I decided to be brave and tackle my documents folder. Let me tell you, it was a wild ride. Found some old school papers, a couple of resumes from when I was job hunting, and even some half-finished stories I wrote when I thought I was gonna be the next Stephen King. Yeah, that didn’t happen.
- I moved a few things I wanted to keep to an external hard drive. Just dragged and dropped them over. Easy peasy.
- For the rest, I just started deleting. It was kinda therapeutic, actually. Like cleaning out a dusty old attic, but without all the spiders.
Then I remembered about all those programs I never use. So I went into the control panel, you know, where you can uninstall stuff. Found a bunch of games I haven’t played in ages, some weird photo editing software I tried once and hated, and a bunch of other random stuff. I Uninstalled them, which felt good.
The Result
In the end, I managed to free up a ton of space on my computer. It’s running a bit faster now, too, which is nice. Plus, it’s just less cluttered, you know? Like, I can actually find things when I need them. It was a good reminder to do a digital deep clean every now and then. I recommend to clean those digital junks!
