So, I really wanted to get into this whole “La Parka” thing. You know, the wrestler, not the grim reaper. I’d seen some of his matches, and the dude was just wild. I mean, who brings a steel chair into the ring and then starts playing it like a guitar? That’s entertainment.
First, I dug into everything I could find about La Parka. Not a whole lot out there, honestly. Some basic stuff, like he’s a big deal in Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, known for his skeleton costume and that crazy chair-guitar thing. I learned that his name “La Parka” just means “The Reaper” in Spanish, and he’s not the only one to use it. This caused some confusion, but I got it sorted eventually.
Then, I tried to copy his style. Let me tell you, it’s harder than it looks. I grabbed an old skeleton costume from Halloween and even found a cheap plastic chair to use as a prop. Figuring out his moves was a whole other story. I watched hours of matches, pausing and rewinding, trying to break down his signature moves. He’s got this one where he jumps off the ropes and lands on his opponent.
- Found some tips online – key things like keeping your balance and aiming carefully.
- Practiced jumping off my couch, which, in hindsight, wasn’t the best idea. My cat was not impressed.
- Realized I needed more space, so I moved to the backyard. My neighbors definitely think I’m weird now.
After a few days of practice, I decided to put on a little “show” for my friends. I set up some makeshift ropes in the backyard and even had some entrance music playing. It was epic, in a very clumsy sort of way. I attempted the rope jump, nearly face-planted, but somehow managed to pull it off. The chair-guitar bit was a hit, even though I can’t play a real guitar to save my life.
Becoming “La Parka”
It’s a journey, let me tell you. I’m still not great at it, and I definitely don’t recommend trying to be a professional wrestler without proper training. But it’s been a blast. I learned a lot about La Parka, about wrestling, and about how much my body can hurt after jumping off a couch repeatedly. Would I do it again? Absolutely. Maybe with a little less couch jumping next time. It’s all about keeping the spirit of La Parka alive, right? The crazy, over-the-top, chair-guitar-playing spirit of Lucha Libre.
