Okay, so I decided to do something with those baseball helmets. I have a few helmets, all black, and honestly, it was getting kind of boring. So, I thought, why not make them white? Here’s how I did it.
First, I gathered all the helmets. They were dusty and had some scratches, you know, the usual wear and tear. I laid them out on an old table in my garage. Next, I needed to clean them up. I grabbed a bucket of soapy water and a sponge and scrubbed each helmet. I made sure to get rid of all the dirt and grime. This took a while, but it was important to have a clean surface for the paint to stick to.
After cleaning, I rinsed them off with a hose and let them dry completely in the sun. While they were drying, I went to a local store that sells sporting goods. I was hoping to find white baseball helmets or some spray paint. Turns out, they had a few brands like Easton and All-Star, but they were pretty expensive. They also had some cheaper ones, but they didn’t look very durable. Since I already had helmets, I decided to just get some spray paint.
Once the helmets were dry, I took them back to my garage. I laid down some old newspapers to protect the table and put on some gloves. I shook the spray paint can really well and started spraying the first helmet. I applied several thin coats, waiting for each coat to dry before applying the next one. This part was a bit tedious, but I wanted to make sure the paint job looked good and lasted.
