So, I heard about this thing called the WM Phoenix Open and how you can actually volunteer there. I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” I mean, I love golf, and being part of a big event like that sounded pretty cool. Plus, I figured it would be a great way to meet some new people and maybe even catch some of the action up close.
First thing I did was try to figure out how to sign up. I searched around a bit and found out that they have a whole bunch of different committees you can join. It’s not just about handing out water or something – there are all kinds of roles. I found out the registration for volunteers usually opens up way in advance, so I made a mental note to keep an eye out for that.
Once the registration opened up, I jumped on it right away. There was a pretty straightforward form to fill out online. You know, basic stuff like your name, contact info, and what areas you’re interested in helping out with. I remember seeing something about concession stands, and I thought, “Hey, I could do that!” I’ve worked in food service before, so it seemed like a good fit.
- Filled out the registration form.
- Picked my preferred committee.
- Waited for a confirmation.
After submitting my application, it was just a waiting game. I was pretty excited, to be honest. I kept checking my email every day, hoping to hear back. Finally, I got a confirmation email! They assigned me to the concession stand team, just like I had hoped.
Getting Ready
They sent over some information about what to expect, what to wear, and where to go on the day of the event. It was all pretty organized, which I appreciated. I made sure to read through everything carefully so I wouldn’t be totally lost when I got there.
The Big Day
On the day of the event, I woke up early, put on the required outfit, and headed over to the venue. There were tons of other volunteers there, all buzzing with excitement. We got a quick briefing from the committee leader, and then it was showtime!
I spent the day working at the concession stand, serving food and drinks to the spectators. It was busy, for sure, but also a lot of fun. I got to chat with people from all over, and the energy of the crowd was contagious. Plus, I could hear the cheers from the course, so I felt like I was right in the middle of all the action.
Overall, volunteering at the WM Phoenix Open was a blast. It was a long day, but it was totally worth it. I met some great people, had some laughs, and got to be part of one of the biggest golf tournaments around. If you’re thinking about volunteering, I’d say go for it! You won’t regret it.
