Okay, so I was curious about how much money some of these backup quarterbacks make. You know, the guys who mostly sit on the bench but still get paid pretty well. So, I looked up Brian Hoyer, a guy who’s been a backup for a long time.
Digging into Brian Hoyer’s Earnings
First, I started with a simple search, Just typed in “Brian Hoyer career earnings” to see what would pop up.
The initial results were all over the place, some sites had estimates, others had nothing concrete. But, I kept digging.
I found this one blurb that said something along the lines of him making almost $30 million, even though he hasn’t started that many games. Only 38 starts in 11 years! Can you believe that?
- Looked at various sports finance sites. Some were better than others, no kidding.
- Cross-referenced a few different sources. You gotta do that, because, you know, the internet.
- Realized a lot of these sites are just pulling numbers from each other. Very helpful.
Anyway, it boiled down to this: the guy’s made a ton of money, mostly from being a reliable backup. Seems crazy, but I guess that’s the NFL for ya.
I finished up my little research project feeling like maybe I should have practiced my quarterback skills a little more back in the day. Sitting on the bench and making millions? Not a bad gig, honestly.
