Okay, so I was super curious about how many languages Venus Williams speaks. I mean, she’s this amazing tennis star, travels the world, and I just figured she’d be a polyglot. So, I started digging.
First, I went straight to the usual suspect – Google. I typed in “Venus Williams languages” and scrolled through the first few results. I found some articles and fan pages, but nothing super concrete.
Then, I decided to check out some interviews. I figured she might have mentioned it in passing. I watched a few YouTube videos of her press conferences and interviews after matches, particularly those from international tournaments.
My Findings
It seems pretty clear that Venus definitely speaks English. Duh, right? That’s a given. She does many media interviews with fluent English, and no need any translation help.
There’s a strong suggestion that her family, including her sister Serena, spent time learning French, and I know Serena speaks it, so it’s probably safe to assume Venus can at least understand some, even if she’s not super fluent.
