Alright, folks, let’s talk about Ja Morant rookie cards. I got into this whole thing a few months back, and man, it’s been a wild ride. It all started when I saw some highlights of Ja, and I was like, “This dude is gonna be HUGE.” So, naturally, I started looking into his rookie cards.
First, I hit up some online forums. Just to get a feel for what was out there, you know? See what other people were collecting, which cards were popular, that sort of thing. I quickly realized there are, like, a TON of different Ja Morant rookie cards. Prizm, Optic, Select, Mosaic…it was overwhelming!
My Hunt Begins
I decided I wanted to start with something relatively affordable. The base cards, nothing too crazy. So I went to a couple of local card shops. Browsed through their binders, asked a few questions. The shop owners were pretty cool, gave me some tips. One guy even showed me a graded Ja Morant rookie card he had – a PSA 10! It was beautiful, but way out of my price range at that point.
- First attempt: Local card shops. Found some base cards, nothing spectacular.
- Second attempt: Online marketplaces. Saw some decent deals, but was worried about fakes.
- Third Try: Finally! Snagged a couple raw base prizm rookies.
Then I spent hours, I mean HOURS, looking at cards online. Checking prices, comparing conditions. One thing I learned pretty quickly: you gotta be careful! There are fakes out there, and it’s easy to get ripped off if you don’t know what you’re looking for. I read a bunch of articles about spotting fake cards – things like checking the card stock, looking at the printing quality, comparing it to pictures of authentic cards. It’s a whole process, let me tell you.
I did not go so far to the shops with a loupe, but I might one day!
After a few weeks of searching and a couple of near misses, I finally scored a couple of decent Ja Morant Prizm base rookie cards. They weren’t graded or anything, just raw cards in pretty good condition. But I was stoked! It felt like a real accomplishment, you know? Like I was actually part of this whole collecting world.
Since then, I’ve added a few more Ja rookies to my collection. I even managed to get my hands on a couple of the parallel versions – you know, the ones with the different colored borders. It’s still a small collection, but it’s growing. And it’s something I’m really enjoying.
My next plan is to get some graded, but that is going to take some saving!
It’s not just about the money, either. It’s about the thrill of the hunt, the satisfaction of finding a card you’ve been looking for, and the connection to the player and the game. It’s a cool hobby, and I’m glad I got into it. If you are looking for something new to waste time on, this just might be it.
