Okay, so I’ve been trying to get that Conor McGregor hairstyle, you know, the slicked-back look with the tight sides. Here’s how it went down:

My Attempt at the Conor McGregor Haircut
First, I showed my barber a bunch of pictures of McGregor. I mean, a lot of pictures. From different angles, different lighting, you name it. I wanted to make sure he got the idea.
We talked about my hair type, which is, well, not exactly like Conor’s. Mine’s a bit thinner, and it doesn’t naturally go back as easily. The barber suggested we keep a little more length on top than I initially thought, just to give it some volume and make it easier to style.
Then the cutting began. He started with the sides, using clippers. I think it was a number 2, and a nice skin fade. I watched, it was nice.
- Clippers on the sides: This was the easy part. Short and tight, just like McGregor’s.
- Scissors on top: He used the scissors to create the textured and layered effect.
Next up was the styling. This is where I knew I’d have to put in some effort every morning. The barber used a good amount of pomade – not too much, not too little – and worked it through my hair, pushing it back and to the side. He showed me how to use my fingers to kind of lift the front a bit, to give it that signature McGregor “pomp.”
I bought the pomade, of course. I tried to get the same look, but my first try. Not so great. But I try again and again, and I get more better.
It’s definitely a high-maintenance style, and I still working on it. But hey, who said looking like a champion was easy?
