Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get into tracking tennis matches a bit more closely, and today I decided to dive into the Siniakova vs. Pavlyuchenkova match. Here’s how it went down, from my perspective.

Getting Started
First things first, I needed to find a reliable source for live scores and updates. I bounced around a few different sports websites. Honestly, most of them are pretty cluttered, but I finally found one that wasn’t throwing ads at me every five seconds.
Following the Match
I keep refreshing pages to get the data I want, and begin to record the data and status of the game.
- Set 1: It looked like Siniakova started strong, grabbing an early break. Pavlyuchenkova fought back, though. It was back and forth, lots of long rallies. I was trying to picture the points in my head, wishing I was actually watching it live! The score updates were keeping me on the edge of my seat. Ended up going to a tie-break, which Siniakova clinched.
- Set 2: Pavlyuchenkova seemed to find another gear in the second set. She was hitting some big winners, and Siniakova’s errors started creeping in. I noticed the momentum shift in the score updates – lots more games going Pavlyuchenkova’s way. She took the set pretty comfortably.
- Set 3: This was the decider, and it was a nail-biter! Both players were leaving it all on the court. I was constantly refreshing the page, seeing the score go back and forth. There were a couple of crucial break points that I was really sweating over, even though I’m just sitting here at my computer! In the end, Pavlyuchenkova managed to pull ahead and win the match.
My Tracking “System”
My “system” was pretty basic, I admit. I had a notepad open on my laptop, and I was just jotting down key moments and scorelines. Like:
- “Siniakova breaks!”
- “Pavlyuchenkova big forehand winner”
- “Double fault Siniakova – ugh!”
My handwriting is kind of messy when I am taking notes in a hurry, but I can understand it.
Final Thoughts
It was actually really fun to follow the match this way, even without seeing the actual video. It forced me to pay close attention to the flow of the game through the score updates. I definitely felt more invested than if I had just checked the final score later. I think I’ll try this again with another match. Maybe I’ll even get a better system going, instead of my messy notepad!
Pavlyuchenkova played really very well, she is my favourite player!
