Okay, so I stumbled upon this thing called “NFL Wordle” and figured, why not give it a shot? I mean, I watch football, I know some players… how hard could it be, right? Famous last words.

I started by going to the website. The layout was pretty straightforward, kind of like the original Wordle, with the colored boxes and all that.
First Attempts and Frustration
- First guess: I went with a well-known quarterback. I figure, everyone starts there. Nope. All gray boxes stared back at me. Total miss.
- Second guess: Okay, time to get strategic. I picked a different position, a wide receiver this time, somebody I thought was pretty popular. Still nothing! More gray. I started to sweat a little.
- Third Guess: Think different team. I chose a player from defensive. But the result remains the same.
By this point, I’m realizing this isn’t just about knowing some NFL players. You gotta know a lot of them, and not just the superstars. I started to feel like maybe I didn’t know as much about football as I thought I did. It was humbling, to say the least.
Getting Some Traction
- Fourth guess: I changed tactics. I started thinking about players on teams I don’t usually follow, trying to cast a wider net. Boom! Finally, a yellow box! That meant I had the right position, just the wrong player. Progress!
- Fifth guess: Okay, same position, different player. I used the yellow box as a guide and picked someone else in that same role. And…another yellow! But a different category this time, that is division. So, I was in the right division, wrong position, wrong player.
The Final Push (and a Bit of Luck)
I was down to my last couple of guesses, and the pressure was on. I went back and forth, trying to think of players in that division, in that original, first yellow position. I started listing names in my head, going through rosters… it was intense!
- Sixth guess: I took a deep breath and typed in a name. It was a bit of a long shot, a player I wouldn’t normally think of. And… YES! A whole bunch of green boxes lit up! I got it!
I’m not gonna lie, I felt pretty good. It was a challenge, a real test of my NFL knowledge, and it was way harder than I expected. But that feeling of finally cracking the code? Awesome. Would I play again? Definitely. Will I spend some time brushing up on my player knowledge first? Absolutely.
