Okay, so today I decided to dig into the stats from the Knicks vs. Celtics game. I’ve been trying to get better at tracking player performance, and this seemed like a good matchup to analyze.
First, I needed to find a place to get the data. You know, there are tons of sports websites out there, but I wanted something reliable and easy to use. After trying a few, I found one that had a pretty clean layout with all the basic stats I needed.
I started by grabbing the key stats for each player. Stuff like points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks. I wanted to get a feel for who really showed up in the game.
I manually entered the data into a simple spreadsheet. Yeah, I know, it’s a bit old-school, but it helps me see everything clearly. Plus, I like having control over how the data is organized. It is convenient for me to see the data clearly.
- I created columns for each stat.
- Then, I went row by row, adding each player’s numbers.
- It was a bit tedious, but hey, sometimes you gotta put in the work, right?
Once I had all the basic stats in, I started looking at some of the shooting percentages. Field goal percentage, three-point percentage, and free throw percentage. These numbers can tell you a lot about a player’s efficiency.
I added some extra columns to my spreadsheet and calculated these percentages myself. It’s pretty simple math, just dividing the number of successful shots by the total number of attempts. It’s a little more * in the end, it can be clearly seen which player performed well and which player did not.
My findings
After I had all the numbers laid out, I started to see some interesting patterns. Some players were definitely having a better night than others. And it was cool to see how the different stats lined up – like, who was grabbing a lot of rebounds but also scoring a lot of points.
This whole process, from finding the data to organizing it and analyzing it, It did take a bit of * I feel like I have a much better grasp of what happened in the game now. And next time I want to compare player stats, I’ll have a good system in place!
