Okay, here’s my blog post about figuring out how many days are left until the football season starts, written in a casual, personal style:
So, like everyone else, I’ve been itching for football season to get here. I mean, seriously, the off-season is brutal. I decided I needed a countdown, a visual reminder of how much longer I had to suffer. First I wanted to find which day football will start.
I started my little project by hitting up Google. Just a simple “when does the NFL season start” search did the trick. Turns out, the first game is on Thursday, September 5th, 2024. The Kansas City Chiefs are playing the Baltimore Ravens. Sweet!
Now that I had the date, I needed to figure out how many days were left. My first attempt? Just counting on the calendar. Yep, I’m old-school like that. I literally opened up my calendar app and started clicking through the months. It worked, but, man, it felt slow. And it’s so easy to miscount. I’m pretty sure I did it three times and got three different answers.
There’s gotta be an app for that, right?
- Actually, there are plenty of app for countdown.
- I downloaded one of them, looking for something simple.
- input the start date.
- Boom! Instant countdown! Much better than my calendar clicking.
I checked back a couple of times, just to make sure it was still ticking down correctly. It was. Always satisfying to see that number get smaller.
So, that’s it. That’s how I figured out my countdown. It wasn’t rocket science, but it’s done. The app is on my home screen, and every time I unlock my phone, I get that little reminder. It’s a small thing, but it’s definitely helping me get through this football-less wasteland. Bring on September 5th!
