Alright, so I spent some time this week trying something a bit different. Got this idea stuck in my head after seeing some stuff about Liv Morgan online again. She’s got this unique energy, you know? Decided I wanted to try and capture that, maybe do a sketch or something.

Getting Started
First thing, I had to actually sit down and do it. Sounds easy, but finding the time is always the tricky part. Anyway, I grabbed my tablet and stylus. Figured digital would be easier to fix mistakes, and trust me, I knew there’d be mistakes. Then came the hunt for a good reference picture. Spent maybe twenty minutes just scrolling, looking for one that felt right. Not too blurry, good lighting, showed her expression well. Found one eventually, from maybe one of her recent matches.
The Sketching Part
So I started roughing out the basic shapes. Just trying to get the pose down, the general outline. Honestly, this part always feels clumsy. Like my hand doesn’t quite listen to my brain. Getting the proportions right was a pain. Her head seemed too big, then too small. Erased that initial outline maybe three or four times. Then started focusing on the face. That’s the important bit, right? Tried to get her eyes and that kind of smirk she does sometimes.
- Fiddled with the eyes alignment for ages.
- Redrew the mouth line probably five times.
- Tried to get the hair looking less like a helmet.
The hair was surprisingly tough. She’s got a lot of it, and getting it to look natural and not just a solid block took a while. Lots of light strokes, trying to hint at the layers. Then I worked on her gear. Just kept it simple, didn’t go crazy on tiny details, mostly focused on the shapes and shadows to give it some form.
Finishing Up (Sort Of)
Added some basic shading. Didn’t really go for full color, just wanted to give it some depth. Used a soft brush tool, tried to figure out where the light was coming from in the photo. Made some parts darker, left others lighter. Went back and forth a lot. Tweaked the cheekbones, darkened the lines around the eyes a bit. It’s never quite perfect, is it? You reach a point where you’re just messing with tiny things and not really improving it anymore.
So, I called it done. Looked at the final thing. It’s… okay. You can tell it’s supposed to be her, I think. It’s not amazing, not like some artists you see online. But the point was just doing it, going through the process. Spent a good couple of hours on it all told. It was kinda relaxing in a way, even the frustrating parts. Just focusing on one thing. Yeah, it was an interesting little practice session. Might try again sometime, maybe focus more on color next time. We’ll see.
