Okay, so folks have been asking about my little trip to the J.B. Holmes Pool the other day. It wasn’t anything too crazy, but here’s how it went down.

My Trip to the J.B. Holmes Pool
I’d heard the name kicked around, you know, the J.B. Holmes Pool. Sounded kinda interesting, maybe a bit fancy, maybe not. Curiosity got the better of me one afternoon when I had nothin’ much else goin’ on. So, I decided, why not? Let’s go see what this place is all about.
Fired up the old car and drove over. Finding it wasn’t too hard, GPS did its thing. Pulled into the parking lot. First impression? Looked like your standard community pool, honestly. Nothing too flashy, but not run down either. Looked decently kept.
Walked up to the entrance. There was a little booth, paid a small fee to get in. Think it was like five bucks or something. Seemed fair enough. The person at the window was friendly, pointed me towards the changing rooms.
Getting Ready and Hitting the Water
Went into the changing room. Pretty basic stuff, lockers, benches. Did my thing, got my swim trunks on. Headed out towards the actual pool area. It was bigger than I expected, actually. One large main pool, looked like maybe a smaller shallow one for little kids off to the side.
- Found an empty chair, tossed my towel down.
- Walked over to the edge of the main pool.
- Dipped my toes in. Water felt good, not too cold, nice and refreshing ’cause it was a warm day.
- Eased myself in. Swam around a bit.
It wasn’t super crowded, which was nice. Some families splashing around, a couple of people trying to swim laps, though nobody was breakin’ any speed records, if you catch my drift. Kinda fitting, given the name, I guess? Made me chuckle a bit.
Just Relaxing and Observing
I mostly just floated around, did a few lazy laps back and forth. Watched the clouds drift by. It was pretty chill. The lifeguards seemed attentive, keepin’ an eye on things. The place felt safe, clean enough. You know, the usual pool stuff – smell of chlorine, sound of splashing water, kids yelling now and then.
Spent maybe an hour, hour and a half there. Didn’t feel rushed. Just enjoyed the water and the sun for a bit. Honestly, it was just a decent, solid pool experience. Nothing earth-shattering, but a perfectly fine way to spend an afternoon.
When I felt like I’d had enough, I got out, dried off, changed back. Headed back to the car. Driving home, I thought, yeah, that was alright. J.B. Holmes Pool. It’s a pool. Does what it says on the tin. Would I go back? Yeah, probably, if I was in the area and wanted a swim. It served its purpose just fine.
