Man, that whole Canelo vs Charlo thing was buzzing everywhere for weeks, wasn’t it? I kept seeing stuff online, hearing people talk about it. Knew it was gonna be a big one. So, I marked my calendar, September 30th. Definitely didn’t want to miss watching it live.

Come the actual day, Saturday, I made sure my evening was clear. You know how it is, gotta prep the viewing station. Got some snacks ready, settled onto the couch. Then the usual scramble started: okay, where is this thing actually on?
I remembered seeing ads, pretty sure it was SHOWTIME PPV plastering it everywhere. Fired up the TV, went looking through the apps. Found the Showtime app, sure enough, there it was, big banner: Canelo vs Charlo LIVE.
Then I saw the price tag. Pay-per-view, always stings a bit, right? Had that moment of thinking, “Ugh, really?” Briefly checked if maybe DAZN had it too, sometimes they carry big fights. Yep, saw it listed there as a PPV option as well. So, options were basically:
- SHOWTIME PPV
- DAZN PPV
Didn’t see any other easy way for me here in the US. Heard something about it being on regular TV in Mexico, lucky them, but that didn’t help me much. Decided, alright, let’s just do the SHOWTIME thing, already had the app installed anyway. Went through the clicking, confirming the purchase. Felt that little pang of buyer’s remorse, but hey, it’s Canelo.
Getting Set Up
Okay, payment went through. Now just had to wait. Checked the start time again. Said the broadcast kicks off around 9 p.m. ET. Had to do the quick mental math for my own time zone. Looked like the main event wouldn’t be for a bit, but wanted to catch the undercard anyway.
So, I got the stream up and running on the big screen. Picture looked good. Sound was okay. Just kicked back with my snacks, watching the early fights, waiting for the main event to finally start. The whole process was pretty straightforward this time, thankfully. No major tech issues, just the usual decision of whether to cough up the cash for the PPV. End of the day, got it sorted and was ready for the first bell.
