Trying to Keep Up with Kostas
So, I decided I’d try and actually follow Kostas Antetokounmpo for a bit. You know, not just Giannis, the big superstar everyone talks about. There’s Thanasis too, always around. But Kostas, he’s kinda been doing his own thing, bouncing around.

I figured, okay, let’s see what he’s been up to. My process was pretty simple, nothing fancy.
- First, I just started by searching his name. See where he landed after the Lakers. Remember him getting that ring in 2020, even if he didn’t play much. Still counts!
- Then I saw he went overseas. ASVEL in France? Yeah, I think that was first. Then Fenerbahçe in Turkey. Now he’s with Panathinaikos in Greece. It gets a bit hard to track, moving between leagues like that.
- I tried checking box scores sometimes. You gotta specifically look for the EuroLeague games or the Greek league games. It’s not like the NBA where everything is right there on the main sports sites.
- Sometimes I’d look for highlights on YouTube. You find some stuff, but it’s not like the flood of content you get for Giannis. Makes sense, but still, takes more digging.
Honestly, keeping track felt like a chore sometimes. Not because of Kostas, just the effort involved when someone isn’t constantly in the main sports news cycle back here. You check one week, then something else comes up, you forget for a month, then you see his name mentioned somewhere and you’re like, “Oh yeah, wonder what team he’s on now?”
It’s interesting though. He’s forging his own path. Playing top-level ball in Europe is no joke. Panathinaikos is a big club with history. It made me think about how different careers can be, even in the same family. Not everyone takes the same road.
So, did I become a super-fan tracking his every move? Nah. It was more like an occasional check-in. A little project to see what one of the ‘other’ Antetokounmpo brothers was doing. Found out he’s playing, competing, making a living playing basketball at a high level. Pretty cool when you think about it. It wasn’t some grand experiment, just me being curious and spending a bit of time here and there looking things up. That was my practice, just following along when I remembered to.
