Okay, so, “the rock hofstra,” right? Let me tell you, it wasn’t exactly Mount Everest, but it was a thing. Started out kinda dumb, honestly.

First, I saw this… rock. Not a pebble, mind you. A decent-sized rock, sitting kinda sad-looking near the student center. I don’t know why, but I just felt like it needed some… pizzazz.
So, I went to the dollar store. Grabbed a can of cheapo spray paint – bright freakin’ orange. Why orange? Don’t ask. It just felt right at the time. I figured, “Hey, I’ll just slap some color on it, maybe write ‘Hofstra Rocks’ or something.”
Then, bam! Inspiration hits. Instead of just writing something generic, why not turn it into a message board? A place where students could, like, actually say something. I know, deep, right?
Next day, armed with the orange paint, I marched back to the rock. Gave it a solid coat. Let it dry for, like, an hour. Then, I wrote the dumbest thing I could think of: “Free Pizza Tomorrow!”
Waited. Nothing. People walked by, glanced, maybe chuckled. My ego bruised a little. But I stuck with it. The next day, I painted over it. This time, it was “Good Luck on Finals!” A little more useful, I thought.
That’s when things started to get interesting. Someone added “Thanks!” Then someone else wrote “I need sleep!” It was working! People were actually using the rock.
The best part? It became a tradition. Every few days, someone would paint over the old message with something new. Birthday shout-outs, club announcements, even some political ranting (which I quickly painted over – gotta keep it civil, ya know?).
Look, it sounds kinda stupid, I know. But that rock became the spot. A place to vent, to celebrate, to just be… heard.

- Step 1: Find a rock.
- Step 2: Acquire cheap spray paint.
- Step 3: Paint the rock.
- Step 4: Write something. Anything.
- Step 5: Watch the magic happen.
Did it change the world? Nah. But it gave Hofstra something kinda cool and unexpected. And that’s good enough for me.
