Alright, let’s talk about figuring out the seating at the Utah Utes stadium, Rice-Eccles. I remember needing to do this a while back because some buddies and I planned on catching a game.

Getting Started
First thing, obviously, I needed to see where we might wanna sit. You hear about different sections, some better than others, right? So, I jumped on my computer. Didn’t really know the official name offhand, just typed something like “utah football stadium seats” into the search bar.
Got a bunch of results back. Some looked like ticket seller sites, others looked more official, maybe from the university athletics site? I tried clicking on a few. Some were just pictures, kinda small, hard to read the section numbers clearly.
Finding a Decent Chart
I kept looking for a clearer version. Found one that seemed pretty detailed. It showed the whole stadium layout, like a big bowl. I could see the different levels, lower bowl, upper bowl. That was helpful.
What I really needed was to figure out the section numbers and how they related to the field. Key things I looked for were:
- Which side was the visitor’s bench?
- Where was the student section? (Good to know if you want to be near the noise or avoid it!)
- Roughly where were the 50-yard line seats?
- Were there any notes about obstructed views? (Didn’t see many for Rice-Eccles, which is good).
I spent a bit of time just zooming in and out on the chart I found. Compared it to pictures of the stadium I found separately to get a better sense of the actual view angles. Saw the sections were mostly numbered logically, which helped. Found the North endzone, South endzone, East side, West side designations on the chart.
Making Sense of It
The chart I settled on showed the different tiers pretty well. You could see the main lower bowl wrapping around, then the upper deck sections. It also marked where the big video boards were, which can be handy to know. I tried to figure out the row lettering or numbering system too, but sometimes the charts don’t go into that much detail, you often get that when you actually select seats to buy.
Honestly, the hardest part was just finding a really clear, large version of the chart initially. Once I had that, it was pretty straightforward to locate the sections we were thinking about getting tickets for.
Ended up using the chart to pick a section on the West side, a bit elevated, maybe 20 rows up? Gave us a good view of the whole field without being too high up. When we actually got to the game, the chart was pretty accurate. The section numbers were clearly marked inside the stadium, and our view was pretty much what I expected from looking at the chart and comparing section locations.

So yeah, that was my little adventure just trying to understand the seating layout. Took a bit of searching, but found a useful chart in the end that helped us pick some decent seats for the game.
