So, I was catching a Bulls game the other night, just flipping through channels, you know? And Zach LaVine made this play, I think it was a steal or maybe one of his crazy layups where he stretches out.

It got me thinking. His arms looked kinda long on that play. I mean, he’s a guard, listed around six-five, but sometimes he just seems to reach further than you’d expect. It just popped into my head: what’s his actual wingspan? Is it one of those things where it’s way bigger than his height?
My Little Investigation
You know how it goes when something like that gets stuck in your head. Had to look it up. So I grabbed my phone while the commercials were on. Started searching around.
- First I just typed in “zach lavine wingspan”.
- Got a few different results right away. Some fan sites, some sports articles.
- You always gotta be careful, sometimes the numbers are a bit off or outdated.
I wanted something solid, like maybe from the NBA draft combine. That’s usually where they get the official measurements when guys are coming into the league. Took a bit more clicking around.
Finding the Number
Finally found a reliable source listing the pre-draft measurements. And there it was. His wingspan was measured at 6 feet, 8.25 inches.
Okay, so 6′ 8.25″. His height is generally listed at 6′ 5″. So, his wingspan is about three and a quarter inches longer than his height. It’s not like some guys who have crazy, freakish length compared to their height, but it’s definitely a positive measurement. A plus-three wingspan is pretty decent.
It kinda made sense seeing that number. It’s enough extra length to make a difference, especially for a guard. You see it when he’s finishing at the rim, getting his shot off over defenders, or playing the passing lanes on defense. That extra reach helps.
It wasn’t some mind-blowing discovery or anything, just a little piece of information. But it satisfied my curiosity. It’s funny how sometimes you just focus on one little detail about a player or a game. Just digging into that one small question I had while watching the game. Anyway, that was my little project for the evening – figuring out LaVine’s wingspan.
