Alright, alright, let’s talk about this Bret Hart and Goldberg thing, yeah? I heard some folks chattin’ ’bout it down at the market, somethin’ ’bout a “screwjob” or somethin’. Don’t rightly know what that means, but sounds like somethin’ ain’t right, you know?
Bret Hart, that fella, he was a big deal, I reckon. Folks used to gather ’round the TV, shoutin’ and cheerin’ for him. He had that long hair, you know, like a girl, but he was tough, real tough. Wrestled all over, they say. Even got some youngsters, Edge and Christian, they looked up to him. Trained at his place, I heard. Good boys, them two.
- Now, this Goldberg fella, he’s another one. Big fella, muscles like rocks, you know? Real strong. Heard he came ’round later, after Bret was already famous. Folks liked him too, yellin’ his name and all that.
- And then there’s this fella, McMahon. He’s the boss man, the one who runs the whole show. Seems like he’s always in the middle of things, stirrin’ up trouble. Folks say he likes to play games, mess with folks. Don’t trust him, myself. Too slick for my likin’.
So, what I gather is, Bret and Goldberg, they were supposed to have a match, a fight you know. For the championship, the big prize. But somethin’ went wrong, real wrong. Folks say McMahon, he planned it all out, met with some other fellas in a hotel room, whisperin’ and plottin’. Sounds like a bunch of no-good schemers to me.
They say Bret, he didn’t know what was happenin’. He was fightin’ fair and square, but McMahon and them, they changed the rules, cheated him, I guess. Made it so Goldberg would win, even though he shouldn’t have. That ain’t right, not at all. A man’s gotta fight fair, win or lose. That’s what my pappy always said.
And this “screwjob” thing, it happened in Montreal, they say. Cold place up there, Canada. Bet Bret wasn’t too happy about it, gettin’ cheated in front of all them folks. Woulda made my blood boil, that’s for sure. Nobody likes gettin’ played for a fool.
But Bret, he came back later, I heard. Forgave folks, maybe. Or maybe he just wanted to get back to fightin’, show them he wasn’t done yet. Folks cheered for him again, welcomed him back like he never left. That’s somethin’, ain’t it? To get knocked down and get back up, that’s the mark of a good man, I reckon.
Foley, yeah, that Mick Foley fella, he was friends with Bret, I heard. Good man, Foley. Tough as nails, but a good heart. He and Bret, they respected each other, see? That’s important in this world, respect. You gotta give it to get it, my mammy used to say.
And Goldberg, well, he went on fightin’ too, for a while. But then he got hurt, real bad. Somethin’ with his head, they say. Had to stop fightin’ after that. Shame, really. He was a strong one, that Goldberg.
So, that’s the story, as far as I can tell. Bret, Goldberg, McMahon, and a whole lotta cheatin’ and schemin’. Makes you wonder, don’t it? Who to trust, who to believe. Maybe it’s all just a show, like them actors on the TV. But even a show oughta be fair, I reckon. That’s just common sense.
Anyways, that’s all I know. Heard it all from folks talkin’, you know. Just a bunch of gossip, maybe. But it’s somethin’ to think about, ain’t it? Life ain’t always fair, that’s for sure. Just gotta keep your head up and keep on fightin’, best you can. That’s what I do, anyways. And that’s the truth, so help me God.
