Alright, let’s talk about them Charlotte Hornets, the 2015 bunch. Folks was buzzin’ ’bout ’em that year, yeah they was.
Now, I ain’t no fancy basketball expert or nothin’, but I watched a game or two. Heard tell they had a pretty decent season, won more games than they lost, that’s what I heard. Forty-eight wins and thirty-four losses, they say. That sounds pretty good to me, yessir.
Steve Clifford, that was their coach. A good fella, I reckon. He whipped them boys into shape, made ’em play like a team. That’s what matters, ain’t it? Workin’ together.
- Kemba Walker – Now, that boy could dribble the ball like nobody’s business. Quick as a hiccup, he was. Scored a lot of points, too.
- Al Jefferson – Big fella, strong as an ox. Good at gettin’ them rebounds under the basket. A real workhorse, he was.
- Nicolas Batum – They called him Frenchie. Smooth player, could pass the ball real nice. And tall, my goodness, he was tall.
- Marvin Williams – Another big un. Could shoot them three-pointers, he could. Handy to have around, I tell ya.
- Michael Kidd-Gilchrist – Young fella, full of energy. Played hard defense, always hustlin’. That’s what I like to see.
They had other fellas too, can’t remember all their names. Mo Williams, they got him in a trade from somewhere, Minnesota, I think. He helped out some. They all wore them jerseys with numbers, you know, like they do. Tall ones, short ones, all kinds of fellas on that team.
This wasn’t their first year playin’ ball, no sir. This was their twenty-sixth season in the NBA, big-time basketball league. Been around a while, they have. Though, they used to be called somethin’ else, the Bobcats, I think. Confusin’ if you ask me. Stick to one name, that’s what I say.
They played all sorts of teams, all over the country. Long ways from home, some of them places. Traveled on them airplanes, I bet. Fancy stuff. I just watch ’em on the TV, that’s good enough for me.
Now, I heard tell folks like to look at all sorts of numbers and stats. Points scored, rebounds grabbed, assists made… all that jazz. You can find that stuff online, they say. Websites and such. But me? I just like watchin’ ’em play. See who wins, that’s the important part.
This 2015 Hornets team, they made it to the playoffs, that’s what I remember. Big deal, that is. Means they was one of the best teams. Didn’t win it all, though. Maybe next year, huh? Always gotta have hope.
They had different positions, too, these players. Guards, forwards, centers… sounds complicated to me. Just throw the ball in the hoop, that’s what I say! But I guess it ain’t that simple. Takes skill and teamwork, lots of it.
Some of them players, they was real young, just startin’ out. Others, they been around the block a few times. A good mix, you need that. Young legs and old smarts, that’s a winnin’ combination. Or so they say.
So, that’s the 2015 Charlotte Hornets roster in a nutshell, as best as I can remember it. A good bunch of fellas, played hard, won some games. Made folks proud, I reckon. That’s all you can ask for, ain’t it?
And like they say, you can find all sorts of details about ’em online if you wanna know more. Birthdates, heights, all that stuff. But for me, just rememberin’ them playin’ ball is good enough. They gave it their all, that’s what matters.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. All this talk about basketball made me hungry!
