Alright, alright, let’s talk about this Masters Fantasy thing, whatever that is. Sounds fancy, like somethin’ them city folks would yap about. But I’ll tell ya, it ain’t all that different from the stories we used to tell ‘round the fire back in the day.
You know, them stories ‘bout princes and dragons and magic and whatnot. Only difference is, these fancy pants writers, they put it all down in big ol’ books. And they call it… what was it? High Fantasy? Hmph. Sounds like somethin’ you’d feed a cow.
Anyways, from what I gather, this Masters Fantasy, it’s all about makin’ up worlds, see? Worlds where anything can happen. Like, you could have a world where the chickens talk and the pigs fly. Or maybe a world where the trees walk around and gossip about the squirrels. See? Just make it up as you go!
- Magic and stuff: Every good story needs a bit of magic, right? Like, maybe somebody waves a stick and poof a rabbit appears. Or maybe somebody says a few words and bam a mountain crumbles. It’s all make-believe, but it makes things excitin’. I reckon that’s why folks like it.
- Good versus evil: Then you gotta have the good guys and the bad guys. The good guys, they’re always tryin’ to save the world or rescue the princess or somethin’. And the bad guys, they’re always tryin’ to mess things up. It’s the same old story, ain’t it? But folks never get tired of hearin’ it.
- Big ol’ adventures: And of course, you gotta have a good adventure. You know, folks travelin’ across the land, fightin’ monsters, climbin’ mountains, that kinda stuff. The more dangers the better. Makes for a good yarn.
Now, I heard tell of some of these stories. Like that Game of Thrones one. Lots of fightin’ and stabbin’ and carryin’ on, from what I hear. Folks seem to like that sort of thing. Me? I prefer a good love story, but to each their own, I always say.
And then there’s that Lord of the Rings thing. That one’s about a little fella who’s gotta throw a ring into a fire. Sounds simple enough, but I guess it takes him a whole lotta pages to do it. Folks say it’s real good though. They say it’s got all sorts of creatures and magic and whatnot. I ain’t read it myself, mind you. Too busy milkin’ the cows and tendin’ to the chickens.
But that’s what this Masters Fantasy is all about, see? Makin’ up worlds and tellin’ stories. It’s like them old fairy tales, only bigger and longer and with more… stuff. More killin’ and more magic and more travelin’ around. High Fantasy, they call it. Humph.
It’s escapism, I reckon. Folks want to get away from their everyday lives. They wanna forget about their troubles and their worries. They wanna dream a little, you know? And these fantasy stories, they let ‘em do that. They let ‘em escape into a world where anything is possible.
You want swords and sorcery? You got it. You want dragons and elves? You got it. You want a world where the good guys always win? Well, maybe not always, but most of the time. You got it. It’s all there, in these big ol’ books. And I tell you what, some of them writer folks must be real clever to come up with all this stuff. I barely can write my name, but these folks can describe a flying lizard so real you’d swear it’d bit your nose off.
And people eat it up, I tell ya. They love it. They buy the books, they watch the movies, they play the games. They spend hours and hours in these fantasy worlds. It’s like they’d rather be there than here, sometimes. And maybe, just maybe, that ain’t such a bad thing. A little bit of dreamin’ never hurt nobody, did it?
So, if you’re lookin’ for a little escape, if you wanna get away from the everyday grind, then maybe you should give this Masters Fantasy a try. Just don’t come cryin’ to me if you get lost in another world and can’t find your way back. ‘Cause I ain’t got no magic map to help ya. You on your own from there. But I’m sure you’ll figure it out. Folks always do, in these stories at least.
And if you happen to stumble across a talking chicken or a flying pig, well, don’t say I didn’t warn ya. ‘Cause in Masters Fantasy, anything is possible. That’s the whole point, ain’t it? And that’s why it’s so darn popular, I reckon. Even if I don’t understand half of it myself. Still, good to hear that people are still tellin’ stories, even if they do call it somethin’ fancy like High Fantasy.
