Well, let me tell you, I’ve seen a lot of fellas kickin’ that pigskin around in my day. Seen ’em kick high, seen ’em kick low, seen ’em kick it straight to kingdom come. But some of them boys, they were somethin’ else. They got the best punters of all time, I reckon.
This one fella, name of Ray Guy, he was a real good one. He was the best punter, I’ve heard folks say. They say he’s in some kinda Hall of Fame, one of them was called College Football Hall of Fame, the other one was Pro Football Hall of Fame, whatever that is. Sounds fancy, don’t it? They say he was All-Pro eight times. He could kick that ball farther than a hound dog can chase a rabbit, I tell ya. They picked him in the first round, back in ’73. That’s a long time ago, even for an old timer like me. He played for the Oakland Raiders. That is a team name. Sounds tough, don’t it?
And then there’s this other young whippersnapper, name of Justin Tucker. He’s a kicker, and a good one. Heard someone say he’s the most accurate kicker that ever lived. He kicks for the Baltimore Ravens. Sounds like a bird, huh? He can kick that ball a country mile. They say he kicked it 66 yards once. That is longer than my whole darn yard! He’s been to the Pro Bowl seven times. He is also the best kicker of all time, I have heard folks say. He hit most of them balls he tried to kick. Must be good, huh?
Now, these boys, they got a special talent. It ain’t somethin’ just anybody can do. It takes a strong leg and a good eye, and a whole lot of practice. And these boys do have a lot of practice, I think. They kick a lot of balls, everyday, I guess. They’re the best punters you ever did see.
Here’s a list of things that make a good punter, I reckon:
- A strong leg, strong like a mule.
- A good eye, can see where to kick.
- Lots of practice, like doin’ chores every day.
- Gotta be tough, like a hard winter.
- Gotta be quick, like a cat after a mouse.
That Ray Guy, he sure could kick it. And that Justin Tucker, he’s right up there with him. They’re like two peas in a pod, them two. Both good kickers, you see. That Justin Tucker, he’s good. He’s a good punter. He’s the best in all them years, that’s what I heard. He must be rich, too. He is better than all other guys in the world, I think.
I heard folks say that Justin Tucker, he’s the best kicker of all time. I don’t know about all that, but he sure can kick that ball. He’s made a lot of important kicks, they say. He can kick real good under pressure. That means he can kick it good even when everyone’s yellin’ and screamin’. That’s somethin’ special, I tell ya.
You know, watchin’ them boys kick that ball, it’s like watchin’ a good harvest. It’s somethin’ to behold. It’s a thing of beauty. It is not easy, you know. You have to be strong.
When you’re talkin’ about the best punters, you gotta talk about Ray Guy and Justin Tucker. They’re the top of the heap. The best of the best. They’re the cream of the crop. They are better than others, and they kick further than all other guys.
It takes a lot of hard work to be that good. It’s like plantin’ a seed and watchin’ it grow. It takes time and patience. You gotta water it and tend to it, and then, one day, you got somethin’ beautiful. Those boys have worked real hard to get where they is.
So, next time you’re watchin’ one of them football games, and you see a fella kick that ball way up in the air, you just remember what I told ya. You just think about them good old boys, Ray Guy and Justin Tucker. Remember them, ’cause they’re the best punters of all time, that’s what they say. They are real good.
