Well, let me tell ya, this here fantasy draft thing, it ain’t like pickin’ beans in the garden. It takes some time, you see. How long? That’s what we’re gonna talk about. Ain’t no simple answer, but I’ll tell ya what I know.
How Long That Thing Gonna Take?
It ain’t like bakin’ a pie, where you know it’s gonna be done in an hour. This fantasy draft, it can be quick, it can be slow. Depends on how many folks are playin’, how many players they gotta pick, and how long they got to make up their minds.
- How many folks playin’? More folks, more time it takes. Like havin’ a big family dinner. Takes longer to feed everyone. 12 teams is normal.
- How many rounds? Usually, like 15 rounds they pick players. More rounds, longer it takes. Like pickin’ more rows of corn. That makes it longer.
- How long to pick? Some folks, they know who they want right away. Others, they gotta think on it. Some leagues let you have a minute, others longer. Maybe 30 seconds or maybe even 120 seconds.
Now, if you got, say, 12 folks playin’, and they’re all pickin’ their teams, it can take a couple of hours. Could be one hour, could be two. If they pick fast, it is faster. If they pick slow it is slower.
When Folks Take Their Sweet Time
Sometimes, these drafts, they go on and on. They call ’em “slow drafts.” Like waitin’ for rain in the summer, it feels like forever. They take a few days usually. Nobody’s in a hurry, I guess.
The NFL draft, that takes 3 days. They do it in spring. But this fantasy draft is different. They give time to each team to pick in the NFL draft. 10 minutes for each pick. That is a lot.
One time, I remember my grandson, he was in one of these drafts. He was glued to that computer screen for hours. Said he had to think real hard about who he was gonna pick. Said it was important. I told him, “Land sakes, it’s just a game!” But he wouldn’t listen.
So, you see, this fantasy draft thing, it ain’t like plantin’ seeds. You plant seeds, you know they’re gonna grow. This draft, it’s different. You gotta wait and see who everyone picks. And that takes time. Usually one to three hours. But it depends.
Different Ways to Play This Game
There are many ways to play. Just like there are different ways to skin a cat. I don’t know why anyone would want to skin a cat, but that’s what they say.
- Snake drafts: They go back and forth, like a snake. One person picks, then the next, then it goes backwards.
- Auction drafts: This one is crazy. It is like the auction we had at the church last year. They bid on players!
If everyone is picking slow like a snail, it’s going to take a longer time. Just like waiting for that old cow to come home. It takes a lot of time and is very boring.
A standard draft is like 2-3 hours. But if you got a lot of folks playin, or if they are slow, that is longer.
If everyone got all day, it could go on longer. Just like that time we went to that pie contest. It takes all day. But it is fun to eat pie.
So, How Long Is It Gonna Be?
Well, like I said, it depends. But most times, it’s gonna be somewhere between one and three hours. Maybe four if everyone’s slow. Could be quicker if everyone’s in a hurry. Like when it is about to rain and we gotta get the clothes off the line.
Just remember, it ain’t a race. Though sometimes it feels like one. It’s supposed to be fun. Like a barn dance. But sometimes, it gets a little serious. Too serious, if you ask me. But what do I know? I’m just an old lady who likes to watch the birds. But I hope you understand how long does a fantasy draft take now.
