Now let me tell ya ’bout this young lady, Ana Maria Markovic. She ain’t that old, born on November 9th, 1999, so she’s still quite young, but already a big deal in football. She plays forward for a club called S.C. Braga, which is in Portugal. And don’t think she’s just some regular player—she also plays for the Croatian national team, which is somethin’ to be proud of, if you ask me!
Ana was born in Split, which is a city in Croatia. But when she was just 12, her family moved over to Switzerland. Now, I reckon that was a big change for her, but she didn’t let it stop her. She started playing football over there when she was about 14, and I guess you could say she got her kick from the way women’s football was growin’ at that time. That was back when the women’s game was really startin’ to pick up in popularity, and Ana thought, “Well, why not me?”
Now, I’m sure y’all know that playin’ football ain’t just for the boys. Women’s football is takin’ off, and Ana is a big part of that. She joined a team in Switzerland called Grasshopper, and it wasn’t long before she started turnin’ heads. The Croatian Football Federation must’ve noticed her skills, ’cause they brought her into their national team. From then on, she was all about representin’ Croatia, and trust me, she’s been makin’ her mark.
But she didn’t just play for fun. No, Ana’s got real talent. She even scored her first international goal for Croatia, and that right there is somethin’ to shout about! Not every player gets to do that. She’s shown time and time again that she’s a force to be reckoned with on the field.
Now, let me tell you a bit more ’bout Ana’s family. She’s got a younger sister, Kristina Marković, who’s also a footballer. Looks like sports run in the family, huh? Can you imagine the competition between them? Must be a real sight to see two sisters playin’ on such a high level. Anyway, it’s clear that Ana’s got the support of her family, and that’s important in this tough game.
As for her career, she’s already played for some big teams and earned some honors along the way. She was part of Grasshopper when they reached the final of the Swiss Cup in 2021–2022. That’s no small feat! And now she’s over in Portugal, playin’ for S.C. Braga, one of the top clubs in the Campeonato Nacional Feminino. It’s amazing to see how far she’s come, especially at such a young age.
All in all, Ana Maria Markovic’s journey is an inspiration. Born in Croatia, raised in Switzerland, and now takin’ the world of women’s football by storm. She’s proven that with hard work and dedication, you can make it anywhere, no matter where you come from. And I reckon this ain’t the last we’ll hear of her!
