Okay, so I wanted to figure out the Central Michigan depth chart the other day. You know how it is, getting ready for the game, wanna see who’s starting, who’s backing up. Just curious about the lineup.

First thing I did, naturally, was head over to the official CMU Chippewas athletics site. Seemed like the most obvious place, right? I clicked on ‘Sports’, then ‘Football’. Pretty standard stuff.
Navigating the Official Site
So I’m on the football page. Looked around for a clear link. You’d think ‘Depth Chart’ would be easy to spot. Scanned the menu – saw ‘Roster’, ‘Schedule’, ‘News’, ‘Stats’. Clicked on ‘Roster’, but that just lists everyone, doesn’t really show the two-deep or three-deep lineup.
Then I thought, maybe they put it in the ‘News’ section? Like a pre-game notes kind of thing. Scrolled through recent articles. Lots of game previews, player interviews, but no specific depth chart graphic or list jumped out immediately. Spent a good few minutes clicking around there. Sometimes they hide it in a PDF link within an article, sneaky stuff.
Used their site search bar next. Typed in “depth chart”. Got a few old results, nothing current for the upcoming week. A bit frustrating, gotta say. Why make it hard to find?
Checking Other Places
Alright, official site wasn’t giving it up easily. Plan B. Time to check the big sports news places. You know the ones, the ESPNs, the CBS Sports of the world. They often have college football sections with team pages.
Opened a new tab, did a general web search. Something like “Central Michigan football depth chart”. This usually pulls up a mix of things.
- The official site again (already struck out there, mostly).
- Major sports network pages for CMU.
- Some dedicated college football sites that track this stuff.
- Sometimes fan forums or blogs, but gotta be careful with those.
I clicked into a couple of the major sports site links. They often have their own projected depth charts. Found one that looked pretty detailed. It listed starters, second string, sometimes third string for each position. Offense, Defense, Special Teams – the whole deal.
Compared it mentally to what I remembered from the last game or news snippets I’d seen. Seemed plausible. These sites usually have folks dedicated to figuring this out, based on camp reports, coach speak, previous games.

Finding What I Needed
Eventually, I landed on a version that seemed up-to-date enough for my needs. It wasn’t on the official site directly in an easy-to-find spot, but pieced together from a reputable sports news source that seemed to have done the homework. It’s not always perfect, coaches might change things last minute, but it gives a good idea.
So yeah, that was my little adventure trying to dig up the CMU depth chart. Took a bit more poking around than I expected. Started at the source, had to branch out, but got there in the end. Always interesting to see how the lineup shakes out.
