But hold on now, we gotta talk about them odds. You see, back in the preseason, the Falcons had a real good chance of makin’ it to the Super Bowl. Folks was sayin’ they had +3000 odds, which is better than a poke in the eye, right? But now? Well, things ain’t lookin’ so rosy. Their odds done dropped down to +5000, which puts ‘em way down the list. That’s like goin’ from a big ol’ bag of cornmeal to a thimble full of it. They got a 2% chance to win the Super Bowl with them odds, but don’t go bettin’ the farm on it.
Now, if you’re keepin’ track, the Falcons got a 0.2% chance to win it all at the moment, and that’s pretty much nothin’. But don’t get all down in the dumps just yet. They still got a tiny chance, like a chicken tryin’ to hatch a stone egg. And if they can get past this game and Tampa Bay don’t pull no funny business, maybe, just maybe, they’ll sneak into the playoffs.
And here’s somethin’ else to chew on. At the start of the season, people was all excited about the Falcons. They had a good run early on, leadin’ the NFC South division by Week 13. But like a bird that’s lost its way home, they started droppin’ down fast. By Week 16, their chances of makin’ the playoffs was down to about 14%. That’s a big ol’ tumble, if you ask me.
So, what are the Falcons’ playoff chances now? Well, they’re sittin’ at about 15% as we head into Week 18. It’s not great, but I reckon it’s better than a poke in the eye. The Falcons still have a chance, but they’re gonna need some help. They’ll need to win their final game and hope for a little luck with the other teams in the division.
