Today, I tried to do something new — playing Sleeper Picks. I always saw those guys talking about their sleeper picks on social media but never got a chance to dive in. So today, I decided to do it.
First, I opened the Sleeper app. I saw lots of players and their stats, it was a little bit overwhelming. But I remembered that the goal is to pick a team based on my predictions of how those players are gonna play, just like how I played fantasy football before. I started to choose the players I felt confident with. For example, I’ve been following Cade for a while, and I believed he would perform well. So, I put him on my list. Then I looked for others who were good too.
I read some tips online before I made my picks. Those people talking about strategy and how they pick the players. I found some key points from them that I could use. One guy, Nick, he really knows a lot, and he shared his thoughts on a website called RotoWire. I felt like if I could understand his picks, I might do better, too. But it was not easy because I didn’t know all those players well. Anyway, I still tried to make some smart choices based on the numbers and what those experts said.
Then I found the problem about making picks. I had to make sure I was in a place where it’s okay to play. I live in California, and luckily, it’s on the list of states where you can play Sleeper. I also learned that I had to pick players from at least two different teams. If one of my picks didn’t play, then that pick would be void. But if all my picks come from the same team just because of one voided pick, the whole game is off and I would just get my money back.
After all that, I finally submitted my picks. I don’t know if I did it all right or not. I just went for it. It was fun, but also a little confusing with all the rules and stuff.
- What I did well:
- Successfully learned the basic rules of Sleeper Picks.
- Made picks based on both personal knowledge and some expert advice.
- Checked the legality and ensured compliance with the game rules.
- What I could have improved:
- Spent more time understanding player stats and expert analysis.
- Perhaps practiced with a mock draft before making real picks.
In the end, this is my first try. I kept my expectations low. Whether I win or lose, I felt like I learned a lot about how this game works. It was definitely a new experience for me. I will keep learning and try to get better next time. Maybe I can beat those social media guys who seem to always be winning.
