Okay, so I’ve been trying to get into this whole “home run prop bets” thing. It’s a bit of a gamble, obviously, but it can be fun if you do your homework. Here’s how my day went with it.

Waking Up and Checking the Matchups
First thing I did this morning was roll out of bed and grab my phone. I needed to see who was playing today and, more importantly, which pitchers were starting. That’s the key, right? Find the guys who give up a lot of dingers.
I checked a few sports news, and they were highlighting a couple of games that looked promising for home runs. One was the Yankees game—they’re always good for some long balls. The other was a game out west, with a pitcher known for having a tough time in that specific stadium.
Digging into the Stats
After I got some coffee in me, I started looking at the numbers. I wasn’t just looking for which batters hit the most home runs. I wanted to see:
- Who’s hot lately? Like, who’s been hitting well in the last week or so?
- Head-to-head matchups. How has a certain batter done against the starting pitcher in the past?
- Park factors. Some stadiums are just built for home runs.
This took a while. I was flipping between different sport news to collect those messages, making notes, and trying to see if any names kept popping up.
Making My Picks
Based on all that, I narrowed it down to three players. I felt pretty good about two of them, and the third was more of a long shot, but I figured, why not?
I placed a small bet with my friend, don’t need to lose my shirt over this. The important thing is to keep it reasonable, you know?
Watching and Waiting
Then came the hard part: waiting. The games were spread out throughout the day, so I had to keep checking the scores. It’s kind of exciting, but also nerve-wracking. You’re just sitting there, hoping to see that one name pop up with a “HR” next to it.
The Results (So Far)
Okay, so as of right now, it’s been a mixed bag. One of my picks came through! It was awesome to see that notification pop up. The other two? Not so much. One guy went 0-for-4, and the other one is still playing, but it’s not looking great.

So, that’s where I’m at. I might be slightly ahead, depending on how that last game goes, but even if I don’t win big, it was a fun experiment. I definitely learned a lot about how to analyze these matchups, and I’ll probably try it again another day. It’s all about the learning process, right?
