Alright, let’s talk about this Alec Bohm fella and how much money he’s makin’. You know, these baseball players, they get paid a whole heap of money, more than most of us ever see in a lifetime. So, this Bohm guy, he plays for the Phillies, that’s in Philadelphia, you know, big city team.
First off, what’s the big deal ’bout his salary?
Well, seems like everybody’s always talkin’ ’bout how much these fellas make. And Bohm, he’s been gettin’ raises, that’s for sure. I heard tell he just signed a contract for four million dollars for this year, 2024. Four million! Can you imagine? That’s a whole lotta hay, I tell ya.
- 2024: $4,000,000
- 2023: $748,000
- 2022: $715,000
- 2021: $575,000
See there? He started out makin’ less than a million, but now he’s up to four! That’s what they call “arbitration,” means he and the team gotta agree on a price, and if they can’t, somebody else steps in and decides. This year, Bohm wanted four million, and the Phillies, they offered him a bit less, somethin’ like three point four million. But they settled on the four, so he got what he wanted, good for him I guess.
But it ain’t always been that easy for him, this money stuff.
They say he’s gonna make even more next year, maybe somethin’ like eight million! Can you believe it? Eight million dollars just to play ball! But see, the team only has him for a couple more years before he can go off and sign with whoever he wants. That’s what they call “free agency.” So, the Phillies, they gotta decide if they wanna keep him around and pay him all that money, or let him go and find somebody else. It’s a tough business, this baseball.
Now, some folks say he ain’t worth all that money. They say he ain’t good enough, that he makes too many mistakes. I don’t know nothin’ ’bout that. I just know he hits the ball sometimes and catches it sometimes. And for that, they pay him millions. Goes to show ya, life ain’t always fair, but that’s just the way it is.
What about his net worth?
I heard someone sayin’ his net worth is somethin’ like almost eight million dollars. That’s all the money he’s got, minus what he owes, I reckon. That’s a lot of money for a young fella. He plays first base, you know, that’s one of them spots on the field where you gotta be good at catchin’ the ball. He went to Wichita State University, that’s in Kansas, before he started playin’ professional ball. Batted .339, hit 16 home runs, and drove in 55 runs. Sounds like he was pretty good even back then.
So, there you have it. Alec Bohm, the Phillies player, makin’ a whole lotta money. Four million this year, maybe eight million next year. It’s enough to make your head spin. But that’s the way it is in the big leagues. They pay these fellas big bucks to play a game. And as long as folks keep watchin’ and cheerin’, they’ll keep gettin’ paid. That’s just the way the world works, I guess.
He plays for Philadelphia, remember that. And he plays first base mostly, though I hear tell they might try to find someone better. Who knows? Maybe he’ll go play somewhere else someday and make even more money. Or maybe he’ll stay in Philadelphia and keep on hittin’ that ball. Only time will tell, that’s what I always say. Time will tell.
