Okay, folks, let’s talk about Darius Slayton and what I did with him in my dynasty league.

So, I’m in this 12-team, superflex, PPR dynasty league, right? It’s pretty competitive, and everyone’s always looking for an edge. I had Slayton on my roster, and honestly, I wasn’t super thrilled about it. He’d have these occasional boom games, but then he’d disappear for weeks. It was frustrating.
I started by looking at his stats. Nothing crazy, a lot of ups and downs. Then I checked out some trade value charts, you know, the ones floating around online. They had him pegged as a decent WR3/4, maybe worth a late 2nd or early 3rd round rookie pick.
But here’s the thing: I needed running back help. Badly. My RBs were looking like a retirement home, so I decided I was going to package Slayton and try to get some younger legs.
I started sending out feelers. I messaged a few guys in my league who I knew were wide receiver-needy. I’d offer Slayton and, like, a future 3rd, and ask for a decent running back. I got a few “no’s” and some lowball offers back. It was a grind.
- First offer: Slayton and a 3rd for some washed up veteran. Rejected.
- Second offer: Sent him straight up for a 2nd round pick. Crickets.
- Third Offer: Packaged him with another player, Still nothing good.
Then, I finally found a guy who was desperate for receivers. He had a young, promising running back, but was super thin at WR. Bingo!
The Trade
I ended up trading Darius Slayton and a 2024 3rd round pick for a second-year running back who hadn’t quite broken out yet, but had a ton of potential. I was stoked!
It felt great to move Slayton for a piece I actually needed. Dynasty is all about the long game, and I felt like this trade gave my team a better shot down the road.
Was it a perfect trade? Maybe not. But it was a trade that worked for my team, and that’s all that matters. It’s important that You’re constantly evaluating your roster, and not being afraid to make moves, that is very important. That’s my takeaway from the whole Darius Slayton saga. Don’t get attached to guys, especially if they aren’t fitting your team’s needs!
