Who’s this Dee Crayton fella, anyway?
I keep hearin’ this name, Dee Crayton, Dee Crayton. Sounds like some kinda fancy pants name, ya know? Like one of them fellers you see on that there TV, all slicked up and talkin’ all proper. But honest to goodness, I ain’t got the foggiest who he is.
So, I done asked my grandkid, the one always glued to that phone of his. He tells me Dee Crayton is some big shot on the internet. Internet! Can you believe it? Back in my day, the only “net” we had was for catchin’ fish!
Anyways, this grandkid of mine, he says Dee Crayton is all over the place. Says he’s got videos and stuff, and folks just love watchin’ him. Somethin’ about football, maybe? Or maybe basketball? Honestly, I can’t keep up with all this sport stuff. Too much runnin’ around for this old lady.
What’s all the fuss about?
Now, I ain’t one for gossip, but seems like this Dee Crayton fella, he popped up outta nowhere. One day nobody knows him, the next day he’s the talk of the town, or the internet, I guess. My grandkid says that’s called “viral.” Sounds like a sickness to me. Hope he ain’t spreadin’ no germs!
- Is he some kinda sports star? Maybe he throws a ball real good, or runs real fast. Folks do seem to like them sporty types.
- Or maybe he’s one of them talkin’ heads? You know, the ones that yap all day ’bout scores and players and who’s gonna win what. My husband, bless his soul, he used to listen to them fellers on the radio. Drove me nuts, it did.
- Could be he just does somethin’ silly and folks find it funny. Heard tell of some fella makin’ a whole career outta wearin’ funny hats and makin’ faces. Goes to show ya, the world’s a strange place.
Tryin’ to make sense of it all
So, I tried lookin’ this Dee Crayton up myself, on that there internet thingy. Took me a good hour just to turn the darn thing on! And then all them words and pictures flashin’ by, it’s enough to make your head spin. But I did manage to find some things. Seems like he’s got somethin’ to do with college football, like my grandkid said. And maybe some other sports too? It’s all a jumble to me.
They got these things called “stats” and “scores” and “news updates.” Sounds important, I guess. Folks are askin’ questions ’bout him, wantin’ to know all sorts of things. How old he is, where he comes from, what kinda cereal he eats for breakfast. Lordy, people are nosy!
Is this Dee Crayton fella here to stay?
Now, I’ve seen folks come and go. Fads, they call ’em. One minute somethin’s the hottest thing since sliced bread, the next it’s old news. So, I gotta wonder, is this Dee Crayton fella gonna stick around? Or is he just gonna be another flash in the pan, forgotten by next week?
My grandkid, he seems to think Dee Crayton’s a big deal. Says he’s got “followers” and “engagement” and all that fancy talk. I just hope he ain’t causin’ no trouble. We got enough of that in this world already.
Well, I reckon that’s all I got to say ’bout this Dee Crayton. Still don’t know much about him, to be honest. But I guess that’s the way things are these days. Folks get famous for all sorts of reasons, and most of the time, this old lady just can’t figure it out. But hey, as long as he ain’t hurtin’ nobody, I guess it’s alright. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. Got a hankerin’ for some good ol’ fried chicken. That’s somethin’ I do understand.
