Alright, let’s talk about this Rita Ora and them Pittsburgh Pirates, ya hear? I saw some pictures, this gal, Rita, she’s wearin’ a Pirates hat. A Pirates hat! Now, I ain’t no fancy pants knowin’ all about these singers and such, but I know a baseball hat when I see one. And that there hat, it got that “P” on it, gotta be the Pirates, right?
Folks been sayin’ she was at some concert, singin’ lady, Taylor somethin’-or-other. And there she is, Rita, with her Pirates hat. Now, I don’t know why she’s wearin’ it, maybe she just likes the hat. Maybe she things it looks purdy on her head, Lord knows some hats are just good for that. Maybe someone give it to her, who knows these things. But it got me thinkin’, this Rita girl, she’s makin’ the Pirates look good, ya know?
Anyways, these Pirates, they been around a long, long time. My grandpappy, he used to tell me stories ’bout them. Said they was called the “Bucs” sometimes, somethin’ to do with pirates and stealin’ players way back when. He said they even won some big games, World Series they call ’em. Won ’em a few times, back in the day. Not so much lately, though. They ain’t been winnin’ much, not in a long while, bless their hearts.
But seein’ this Rita girl, wearin’ that hat, it gives you a little hope, ya know? Maybe things are lookin’ up. Maybe the Pirates will start winnin’ again. It’s like, she’s famous, and she’s wearin’ our hat! That’s gotta be good for somethin’, right? Makes ya feel a little proud, even if you ain’t never met the girl and probably never will.
- They got them black and gold colors, just like all the other Pittsburgh teams. That’s how you know they’re from around here.
- And they used to have all kinds of players, black fellas, Latino fellas, playin’ together. That was a big deal back then, or so I hear.
- Grandpappy said they even changed their uniforms once, looked real different. He wasn’t too happy about that change, said it messed with his lucky socks or some such nonsense.
Now, this Rita girl, she ain’t the first famous person to wear a Pirates hat. I heard tell of some other gal, Vanessa somethin’, her fella played for the Pirates. So, maybe it’s a thing, these famous gals likin’ the Pirates. Maybe they know somethin’ we don’t. Or maybe they just like a good hat.
And that red outfit Rita was wearin’? Folks are sayin’ it ain’t ’cause red’s her favorite color. Maybe it’s got somethin’ to do with the Pirates, or maybe it don’t. I ain’t one for gossip, but it does make ya wonder, don’t it? These young folks and their fashion, always somethin’ new.
So, there you have it. Rita Ora and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Who’d a thunk it? A singer lady wearin’ a baseball hat, gettin’ folks talkin’ ’bout the Pirates again. Maybe it’ll bring ’em some luck. Maybe they’ll start winnin’ games. Maybe they’ll get themselves another purdy hat, who knows! One thing’s for sure, it’s somethin’ to talk about, ain’t it?
And that, my friends, is all I gotta say about that. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I got some chores to do. Gotta go feed the chickens and whatnot. Them birds don’t care about no Rita Ora or no Pirates hat. All they care about is their feed, which is more than I can say for some folks.
