Alright, let’s talk about them side arm pitchers in that there MLB The Show 24 game. You know, the fellas who throw all weird and funky, not like them regular overhand fellas. It ain’t easy, I tell ya, this pitching stuff. My grandson, he plays this here game all the time, and he’s always yellin’ about pitchin’ interfaces and stamina and all that fancy talk.
Now, from what I gather, there’s a bunch of ways you can pitch in this game. Pulse, classic, pinpoint, analog… sounds like a bunch of hogwash to me! But the young’uns, they say pulse and classic is the most “realistic.” Whatever that means. They say it’s a good mix of, you know, how good you are and what kinda pitcher you got.
And then there’s them other ways, pinpoint and analog. My grandson says them’s more like… arcade-y. You know, like them old games down at the pizza parlor? He says it don’t make no sense that you can take some scrub pitcher with a low overall and make him pitch like a Cy Young winner just ‘cause you’re good at pushin’ buttons. He’s got a point there, I reckon.
But what about them side arm pitchers, eh? They’re a whole different breed. My grandson, he always talks about this fella, Tyler Rogers. Says he’s the best side arm pitcher in the whole darn game. I seen him pitch on the TV once. Throws all side-arm-like, you know? Not like them fellas who throw straight over the top. It’s kinda weird lookin’, but hey, if it works, it works.
Now, they say that throwin’ overhand is better ‘cause you can throw harder. Makes sense, I guess. You can get more oomph behind it. But them side arm fellas, they lose a bit of speed, but they get somethin’ else. They get that… that… what do you call it? Deception! Yeah, that’s it. Batters ain’t used to seein’ the ball come at ‘em from that angle. It throws ‘em off, see? Makes ‘em swing and miss.
- So, how do you get good at pitchin’ in this here game? Well, first off, you gotta pick the right way to pitch. That interface thingy. My grandson, he likes pulse, but you gotta figure out what works for you.
- Then you gotta learn all them different pitches. Fastballs, curveballs, sliders… it’s enough to make your head spin! But you gotta learn ‘em if you wanna be any good.
- And you gotta pay attention to your pitcher’s stamina. Can’t just keep throwin’ heat all game long. Gotta let ‘em rest up a bit, or they’ll start throwin’ meatballs. And nobody wants that!
- And then there’s confidence. Yeah, even them video game fellas get nervous sometimes. If they’re doin’ good, they’ll be all cocky and throw better. But if they’re gettin’ shelled, they’ll start to lose it. You gotta keep ‘em calm and confident.
So, it ain’t just about pushin’ buttons, see? There’s a whole lot more to it than that. You gotta think, you gotta strategize, you gotta know your pitcher, you gotta know the batter… it’s like a chess game, only with more fastballs and fewer little horsey guys.
And them side arm pitchers? They’re a special weapon. They ain’t gonna blow nobody away with their speed, but they can sure mess with a batter’s head. They can get you them crucial outs, them ground balls, them weak pop-ups… that’s what wins ball games, ain’t it? Not just how hard you can throw, but how smart you can pitch.
So, next time you’re playin’ MLB The Show 24, give them side arm pitchers a try. They might just surprise ya. And don’t forget to pay attention to all that other stuff too. The interface, the pitch types, the stamina, the confidence… it all matters. It ain’t easy, this pitchin’ business. But if you put in the time and effort, you can become a real ace on the mound. Even if you’re just throwin’ from the side.
MLB The Show 24 sure does try to make it real, don’t it? All this talk about different ways to throw and how tired your arm gets… makes me think of my old man, used to work in the fields all day. His arm was always tired, but he never complained. Just kept on workin’. Maybe that’s what you gotta do to be a good pitcher too. Just keep on throwin’, no matter what. And maybe, just maybe, you’ll be the next Tyler Rogers.
Anyways, that’s all I got to say about them side arm pitchers. It’s a lot to take in, I know. But like I said, it ain’t rocket science. Just gotta practice, pay attention, and use your noodle. And don’t be afraid to try new things. Maybe them side arm fellas ain’t for everybody, but they sure can be effective if you know how to use ‘em. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. All this talk about baseball has made me hungry.
