Alright, so I decided to spend some time looking into Kameron Robinson and Mark Andrews the other day. Someone threw Robinson’s name out there, maybe in a forum or something, and it got me thinking, especially with Andrews being such a big deal for the Ravens when he’s on the field.

Getting Started
So, first thing I did was pull up the usual stats sites. Mark Andrews, easy peasy. Lots of data there – targets, catches, yards, touchdowns. You know the drill. I quickly scribbled down his key numbers, target share percentages, stuff like that. He’s clearly a top guy, no question, when he isn’t banged up.
Then I turned my attention to Kameron Robinson. And man, that’s where things got tricky. I started searching, really digging around. College stats weren’t too hard to find, but NFL stuff? Almost nothing. Preseason snaps, maybe a mention here or there in some camp reports I could find. It took way more effort than I expected just to find basic information about his time with the Ravens.
Shifting Gears
It became pretty obvious, real fast, that comparing these two directly was kind of silly. Andrews is a proven star, Robinson was basically trying to just make the team. So, I had to shift my thinking. My goal changed from a direct comparison to trying to figure out what the Ravens saw in Robinson, or where he might have possibly fit in, even as a deep backup.
- I tried finding some preseason footage. Watched a few clips where he might have been on the field. Was looking for anything – speed, hands, how he moved.
- I thought about their roles. Andrews is the main receiving tight end. Could Robinson have been a different flavor? Maybe more of a speedy guy?
- Honestly, I got a bit frustrated. You hit these walls sometimes when you’re looking at guys on the roster bubble. Not much solid info to go on.
I even asked a buddy who follows the Ravens pretty closely. He basically shrugged. Said Robinson was just another camp body, didn’t really see anything special during his brief time there.
What I Ended Up With
So, after poking around old news articles and practice notes from last year, reading between the lines of coach speak, I basically landed back where I started, but with more certainty. Robinson was an undrafted guy they took a flyer on, probably liked his college tape or maybe some athletic traits, but he just didn’t stick. He wasn’t pushing Andrews or likely even impacting the primary backups much.
The whole exercise really just hammered home how different the worlds are for established stars versus guys fighting for those last roster spots. You can spend a lot of time chasing ghosts with those deep sleeper picks if you’re not careful. In the end, I didn’t uncover some hidden gem. I just confirmed Andrews is the guy (health permitting) and Robinson was, for the Ravens at least, a long shot that didn’t pan out. It felt like a bit of a wild goose chase, but hey, sometimes you gotta do the digging just to confirm there’s nothing there, right? That’s part of the game.
