So, I’ve been messing around with this idea of getting some custom gear made, specifically themed around Brian Ortega, ’cause, you know, he’s a pretty rad fighter. First thing I did was to browse online to see what’s already out there. I typed in “Brian Ortega merch” and started scrolling.
I saw a bunch of different sites selling shirts and stuff, and the official sports stores, they had a few cool things, but nothing that really grabbed me. They all looked a bit, I don’t know, generic? Like, they were fine, but just not what I was envisioning.
Then I started thinking, maybe I could just design my own stuff. I remembered seeing something about Amazon having a service where you can create your own merchandise. I’m no artist, but I thought, why not give it a shot? So I started playing around with some design ideas, mostly just text-based stuff at first, ’cause that’s about the limit of my skills.
Finding Inspiration
I wanted to see what other independent artists were doing, to get some ideas. I checked out a few sites where artists sell their designs, and I found some pretty creative Brian Ortega stuff. That got me even more pumped to try making my own. I’ve started sketching, you know, old school style and trying to make some digital designs with my very poor skills.
The Process
Here’s what I’ve done so far:
- Brainstormed a bunch of ideas for slogans and images.
- Looked at different fonts that might look cool on a shirt.
- Tried to learn some basic design software, which, let me tell you, is a bit of a struggle.
It’s been a fun little project, even though I’m still very much at the beginning stages. I haven’t actually made anything I’d be ready to print yet, but I’m getting there. The whole process of seeing what’s out there, getting inspired, and then trying to bring my own ideas to life, it’s been pretty rewarding. I’ll keep you guys posted on how it goes! Maybe one day I’ll actually have some custom Brian Ortega gear to show off.
