Okay, let’s talk about my time with “MLB The Show” and this whole H/9 thing.
So, I’ve been playing this game for a while, right? I started by creating a new player in Road to the Show. It’s fun, building your guy up, you know? Then, I got into Franchise mode, and that’s where things got a bit more… involved. I’m trying to build a killer team, and it’s not as easy as it looks. These general managers have a tough job, I tell ya.
I was checking out all these stats, trying to figure out who to pick, who to trade, all that jazz. And then I saw this “H/9” thing. Hits per 9 innings. At first, I’m like, “Okay, that’s simple enough.” It basically tells you how many hits a pitcher is likely to give up in a game, over nine innings.
- The higher the H/9, the fewer hits they’ll allow. That’s what you want.
But then, I dug a little deeper. I learned that H/9 isn’t just about how good a pitcher is. It actually messes with the hitter’s PCI – that’s the Plate Coverage Indicator. See, when you’re up at bat, that little zone that shows where you’re aiming? That’s the PCI. And a higher H/9 on the pitcher makes that PCI smaller for the hitter. So, it’s harder to make contact.
It’s a Challenge
I started paying more attention to H/9 when picking my pitchers. I’m trying different strategies, you know? One day, I’ll go for a guy with a killer fastball. The next, I’m looking for someone who can just keep the ball out of play. And H/9 is a big part of that. It changed how I look at pitchers, for sure.
I spent a good chunk of time just experimenting. I’d play a few games, tweak my lineup, play some more. It’s a grind, but it’s fun. You learn something new every time you play. I started with simple things, like trying to keep my right stick movements smooth when I was pitching. It felt weird at first, but you get used to it.
I also checked out the different pitching interfaces, just to see which one I liked best. They all have their pros and cons. It’s all about finding what works for you.
So yeah, that’s my experience with H/9 in “MLB The Show.” It’s a small stat, but it makes a big difference. It’s made me think more about the game, and it’s made me a better player, I think. I’m still learning, still experimenting, but that’s half the fun, right?
