Okay, so today I decided to tackle another soccer player figure, the eighth one in this little series I’ve got going.

Getting Started
First thing, I just kinda felt like making another player. Number eight seemed like a good one to go for. Didn’t have a super specific plan, just wanted to get another one done. You know how it is sometimes, you just gotta make stuff.
Finding the Vibe
I spent a bit of time just messing around, looking at some photos online, not really copying anything directly, just getting a feel for a dynamic pose. Wanted something that looked like mid-action, not just standing there. Found a couple of running poses that looked alright, so I kept those in mind.
Blocking it Out
Then I jumped into the actual making part. Started rough, really rough. Just getting the basic shapes down. Think stick figure but a bit chunkier. Didn’t worry about details at all at this stage. It’s all about getting the general posture and proportions kinda right. If it looks weird now, it’ll probably look weird later, so gotta fix the big stuff first.
Adding Some Meat
Once the basic skeleton looked okay, I started adding the body shape. Making sure the legs looked like they could actually kick a ball, giving the torso a bit of twist maybe. It’s like sculpting, but digitally, I guess. Pushing and pulling points until it starts looking less like a blob and more like a person in motion. This part takes a while, lots of little adjustments back and forth.
Kit and Number
Next up was the kit. This is important because it really makes it look like a soccer player.
- Got the jersey shape fitted onto the body.
- Added the shorts, making sure they flowed a bit with the movement.
- Pulled up the socks, added some basic boots.
And of course, slapped that big number 8 on the back. Gotta have the number.
Getting the Colors Down
Then came the coloring part. Kept it simple. Picked a main color for the kit, maybe some stripes or accents. Nothing too fancy today. Just wanted solid colors that looked okay. Made the boots black, standard stuff. Added some basic skin tone. Didn’t go crazy with textures, just enough to make it not look flat.
Final Pose Tweak and Finish
Looked at the whole thing again. Tweaked the pose a tiny bit more, maybe bent an arm differently or adjusted the head angle. Just small things to make the action feel a bit more real. Checked it from a few angles. Yep, looked alright. Called it done. Soccer player #8, finished. On to the next thing, probably.
