Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another one of my little data deep dives. Today, I got curious about something at the 2023 Masters and started digging around. I wanted to figure out exactly “how many pars were made in the 2023 Masters.” Sounds simple enough, right? Well, it turned into a bit of a project, but a fun one!
First, I needed to find the official data. I went on the Masters website, and started pulling up all the information about the 2023 tournament. They have all the information recorded, so I took a look at each player’s scorecard and started tallying up the pars. But I knew that wasn’t enough.
Then, I began to look for more data to prove what I had found out. Fortunately, some websites had already gathered some useful information about the total number of pars made in the 2023 Masters. It really saved me a lot of time.
Round-by-Round Breakdown
To get a better picture, I began to organize the data by round. This was a bit tedious, but it gave me a clearer view of how things progressed through the tournament. Here’s what I got:
- Round 1: Went through each player’s scorecard for the first day. Added up all the pars.
- Round 2: Repeated the same process for the second day. Kept a running total.
- Round 3 & 4: Did the same for the final two rounds. By this point, I was getting pretty quick at it!
The Final Count
After all that digging and calculating, I finally had my number. And guess what? The total number of pars made at the 2023 Masters was…3029. It was pretty cool to see it all come together, and it matched the data from some websites I found. They reported that 93 players participated in at least one round, and altogether they made 3029 pars during the whole week.
And I also found out something interesting: there were 827 birdies in total. Isn’t it amazing? Besides, Jon Rahm was the champion, shooting a three-under-par 69 in the final round for 276 (-12).
It’s just like piecing together a puzzle. It might seem small, but it’s part of the big picture of the game. Anyway, hope you found this little investigation interesting. Stay tuned for more!
