Okay, so, today I wanted to talk about Nakobe Dean’s contract. I got really curious about this the other day, so I went digging.
First, I started by just looking up what his overall contract looked like. Turns out, back in 2022, Nakobe Dean signed a four-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. And guess what? It’s worth about $5.2 million! That’s a lot of money, right?
Then I went deeper. I wanted to know the specifics. What I found was that the contract included a signing bonus of around $965,192. That’s like, almost a million dollars just for signing! Plus, it looked like that same amount, $965,192, was guaranteed. Not bad for a rookie contract, huh?
Breaking Down the Yearly Salary
- I checked out his yearly salary too. In 2024, he’s making a base salary of $1,178,149. I mean, who wouldn’t want that kind of paycheck?
- I also looked into this thing called “cap hit” and “dead cap value.” For this year, his cap hit is $1,419,447, and the dead cap value is $482,596. Sounds complicated, but it’s basically about how much of his salary counts towards the team’s salary cap and stuff like that.
Comparing to Other Rookies
It got me thinking, how does this compare to other rookies? So I did a little more digging.
- I found out about Isiah Pacheco. Apparently, when he got drafted by the Chiefs, he was super excited. And he signed a four-year contract worth around $3,739,108. His signing bonus was $79,108, which is much smaller than Nakobe’s, but still pretty awesome.
- Then there’s this guy Cade Otton, who signed with the Buccaneers. His four-year deal was valued at $4,493,944, with a signing bonus of $833,944. Again, a bit less than Nakobe’s, but hey, still a huge chunk of money.
