Okay, so I was digging into something that I’ve always been a little fuzzy on – how old was Jordan when he hung up his sneakers for good? You know, Michael Jordan, the basketball legend. It’s kinda tricky because the dude retired like, a few times.
So, first thing I did was just hit up my usual search engine. Just typed in “Michael Jordan retirement age” and boom, tons of stuff popped up. I started clicking through a few articles to piece things together.
First Retirement
- The first time he retired, it was back in ’93. I found this article that said he was only 30 years old then. 30! Can you believe it? He said he didn’t have any more challenges, and the spotlight was getting to him.
Second Retirement
- Then, he came back, played some more, and retired again in ’99. One source said he was around 36 at that point. Thought that was it, right? Nope!
Third and Final Retirement
- The guy comes back AGAIN! This time with the Washington Wizards. He played a couple more seasons with them.
- Finally, in 2003, he retired for the last time. Multiple sources confirmed this. I saw one that said he was 39 years old in the 2002-03 season, and another that specifically stated he was 40 when he played his final game on April 16, 2003.
- His last game, he got 15 points, but the Wizards lost to the 76ers.
So, there you have it. After all that searching, I’m pretty sure Michael Jordan was 40 years old when he finally retired from basketball. Man, that guy had a long and wild career!
It was a fun little research project. Sometimes you just gotta dive in and figure these things out for yourself, you know?
