Alright, so listen up, y’all. Gotta tell ya ’bout this fella, Gabe Davis. Heard he was playin’ for them Buffalo Bills, catchin’ balls and runnin’ around like a chicken with its head cut off, ya know? Now, they tellin’ me he done gone and switched teams. Moved on over to them Jacksonville Jaguars. Jacksonville Jaguars, that’s down in Florida, ain’t it? Hotter than a pepper sprout down there, I reckon.
Now, I ain’t no fancy football expert, but I hear tell this Gabe Davis fella is pretty good. Folks sayin’ he’s a wide receiver. That means he catches the ball, right? Well, he must be good at it if them Jaguars are willin’ to pay him a whole heap of money.
Heard they givin’ him somethin’ like 39 million dollars for three years. $39 million! That’s more money than I ever seen in my whole life. Shoot, you could buy a whole lotta cows with that kinda cash. Maybe even a whole dang farm. Makes you wonder what they do with all that money, huh? Probably buy fancy cars and big houses, I guess.
Anyways, this here Gabe Davis, he ain’t no spring chicken no more. Been playin’ in the NFL for four years already. Guess that’s why he got so much money. The more you play, the more they pay ya, seems like. He was with them Bills since he was a young’un, fresh outta college. University of California, they say. Fancy place, I bet. Probably got all kinds of fancy learnin’ goin’ on there.
But now he’s a Jaguar. Said he signed a contract and everything. Legally bindin’ and all that. Means he gotta play for them Jaguars now, for three whole years. Unless they trade him or somethin’. These football fellas get traded around like baseball cards sometimes, ya know? One minute they’re here, next minute they’re gone. Hard to keep track of ’em all.

Got a fella named Parker Washington, and another one, Devin Duvernay. Tim Jones, too. Said they might be able to fill Gabe’s shoes. Big shoes to fill, I reckon. Gotta catch all them balls and make all them touchdowns.
They also talkin’ ’bout some fellas on the practice squad. Elijah Cooks, Joshua Cephus, and Austin Trammell. Practice squad, that means they ain’t good enough to play in the real games yet, but they’re hopin’ to get there someday. Kinda like learnin’ to drive a tractor before you can plow the whole field, ya know?
They say Gabe Davis is a big fella, too. Six foot two inches tall, and weighs 225 pounds. That’s a big boy! No wonder he can catch all them balls. Gotta be strong to wrestle them away from them other fellas tryin’ to stop ya. Sounds like a rough job, if you ask me. All that runnin’ and jumpin’ and gettin’ knocked around. I’d rather be sittin’ on my porch sippin’ sweet tea, myself.

These youngsters and their video games, I tell ya. Always sittin’ around starin’ at screens. Back in my day, we had to go outside to have fun.
Anyways, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how Gabe Davis does with the Jaguars. Football season’s comin’ up soon, and I reckon we’ll all be watchin’ to see what happens. Hope he does good, that’s for sure. And I hope them Jaguars give him plenty of chances to catch the ball and make some plays. That’s what they payin’ him all that money for, after all.
