Alright, so some of you were asking about this ‘liv love’ setup I was working on. It wasn’t anything super complicated, just something I finally got around to doing.

It started because, well, Liv needed a better spot. She’s our little mutt, mostly terrier, tons of energy. She just kinda crashed wherever, sometimes the sofa, sometimes right in the middle of the floor where you’d trip over her. Decided she deserved her own dedicated zone.
Finding the Spot
First thing was figuring out where. Our place isn’t huge. Walked around a bit. Thought about the corner by the window, but it gets drafty. Hallway? Too much traffic. Finally settled on this little nook in the living room, next to the bookshelf. Kinda unused space anyway.
Getting the Gear
Then I had to think about what she actually needed there. Not just throwing a blanket down, you know? Wanted it to be her space. So, the list was something like:
- A proper bed, comfy but tough. She chews sometimes.
- Place for her water bowl, maybe on a mat.
- Toy basket. Her toys were EVERYWHERE.
- Maybe her crate for nighttime? Still deciding on that.
Spent way too long looking online. You know how it is. Found this bed that looked like it could survive a hurricane, good start. Got a simple ceramic bowl, heavy so she hopefully won’t knock it over. And a cheap wicker basket for the toys.
Putting It All Together
Okay, assembly time. Had to clear out that nook first. Moved a stack of old magazines, dusted like crazy. Put down a rug scrap I had lying around, just to define the area. Placed the bed in the corner. Put the water bowl on a little rubber mat next to it. Tossed all her stray toys into the basket and put that nearby.
Stepped back. Looked okay. A bit basic, maybe, but functional. That was the goal.
Liv’s Verdict
Then I brought Liv over. Showed her the spot. She sniffed the bed. Sniffed the basket. Sniffed the rug. Then walked away and lay down on the old bathmat near the door. Typical. Totally ignored it for the first hour.
But later that evening, I saw her actually go over there. She circled in the bed like three times, then flopped down. Success! Small victory, but felt good.

The ‘Love’ Part?
Guess that’s the ‘liv love’ bit. It wasn’t about buying fancy stuff. It was about carving out a little piece of home just for her. Seeing her comfortable, feeling secure in her own spot… yeah, that’s worth the effort. Took a bit of planning, some moving stuff around, the usual weekend project hassle. But watching her snooze there now, totally relaxed? Makes it worth it. It’s just making her feel like she belongs, you know? Simple stuff.
Now, gotta figure out how to stop the cat from thinking the new bed is his. That’s the next challenge.
