Okay, so, I saw this crossword puzzle clue online, “It’s a blast,” and I thought, “Hey, I can figure that out!” I mean, I’m pretty good at these things, right? So I started brainstorming.
First, I noticed that this clue had shown up before, like on February 10th. I thought, “Okay, this is something people have been seeing a lot.” Then I saw it again on February 9th, 2024, in the New York Times Crossword. These puzzles get tougher as the week goes on, so I knew this one might be a bit tricky. And guess what? I found it was also in the WSJ Crossword on November 6th. This clue was everywhere!
I started looking for answers online, and I found a website that said it had the answer. It looked legit, so I went for it. The website said it had found 30 possible answers to “It’s a blast.” 30! I thought, “Wow, this could be anything!”
Then, I dug a bit deeper, and I found the answer was either 3 or 4 letters long. Most sources were saying GALE for a 4 letter word, but there was also a 3 letter word. I was on a mission now. I checked out another site that had a whole list of answers for the February 9th puzzle, and it confirmed that the 4-letter answer was GALE.
But then there is a 3 letter answer which is FUN, I was on the fence. So I looked up what “gale” meant, and it’s like a really strong wind. That kind of fits the “blast” idea. And FUN, I mean, who can resist that? So I thought, maybe there’s two possible answers.
This got me thinking about other crossword clues. I saw one that said, “Have the ___ for (be attracted to),” and the answer was “hots.” That was a fun little detour. It reminded me of this famous puzzle from 1996 that was in a movie and a book. Crosswords can be pretty cool, right?
So, what did I learn?
- Sometimes there are a lot of possible answers to a clue.
- It’s a good idea to check multiple sources.
- Crosswords can be tricky but also super interesting.
- And sometimes the answer is GALE, and sometimes it is FUN.
Anyway, that’s my little adventure with the “It’s a blast” crossword clue. Hope you enjoyed it! I sure had a blast figuring it out… or at least trying to!
