Okay, so I was fiddling around the other day, trying to get some stuff organized. You know how it is, sometimes you just gotta sit down and sort things out. I was actually looking into some project management tools, thinking about maybe trying Jira again, even though I’ve had my ups and downs with it.

So, I’m typing away, probably had too many tabs open like usual. My mind wanders a bit, maybe thinking about something else completely unrelated. Boxing, maybe? Yeah, I think I was watching some highlights of Floyd Mayweather the night before. Defensive genius, you gotta admit. Anyway, somehow, my fingers typed out “jirah mayweather” into the search bar. Don’t ask me how exactly, maybe a typo, maybe my brain just mashed two things together.
Naturally, I hit enter. What came back was… well, not much. It wasn’t like searching for a famous person. No big Wikipedia page, no flood of news articles.
My Little Search Journey
So, here’s what I did, step-by-step more or less:
- First pass: Just the basic search. Saw a few scattered results, maybe some social media profiles with similar names, but nothing solid. Nothing that screamed ‘public figure’ or even ‘person of mild interest’.
- Image Search: Tried that next. Again, pretty random. Pictures that didn’t seem connected. Definitely no boxer or software tool.
- Variations: I thought, maybe I spelled it wrong? Tried “Jira Mayweather”, “Jirah Maywether”, stuff like that. Still nothing useful. Mostly results for Jira software mixed with results for Floyd Mayweather.
- Specific Platforms: I even peeked at places like LinkedIn, Twitter, just putting the name in their search bars. Found a few profiles here and there across the globe with similar names, but who knows if any were the “right” one, or if there even was a specific “right” one I was accidentally looking for.
After maybe ten minutes of this, clicking around, I just stopped. What was I even doing? I started out trying to look up something about Jira, or maybe I was just supposed to be cleaning my desktop files. Instead, I went down this weird little rabbit hole chasing a name that probably came from a typo.
It’s funny how easily you get sidetracked. You start with a goal, a clear task, and then one little random thought or misspelling sends you off on a tangent. Spent actual time on it. Didn’t achieve anything, didn’t find ‘Jirah Mayweather’, didn’t get my original task done either. Just… clicked around.
It’s a good reminder, I guess. Focus is key. It’s easy to just drift online, chasing little bits of information that don’t really matter. Gotta make a conscious effort to pull yourself back to what you were actually trying to do. Anyway, after that weird detour, I closed the search tabs and got back to sorting out my project notes. Much better use of time. Still haven’t decided on Jira though.
